I just can't see Vivienne being an LI if she isn't race gated. I can't see how a elven lover could possibly coincide with her ambition to be successful in the Orlesian court.

It would be nice if either Blackwall or Vivienne were same-sex only, since it would at least show that straight people won't always be favored, even if one side is losing out this time. I definitely would rather everyone got equal options, but this would be a nice compromise to what options are left. I seriously doubt it will happen, though. It's not something I'm legitimately thinking there's a chance we'll see.

Morrigan was in no way "conquered" by her romance. This is DA not ME. More likely Viv and Inquisitor would be Thedas' power couple.

I always felt the Jack romance was the worst in ME. My Shepard wanted to be her friend and a trustworthy companion but she couldn't relate to him without a romance.

Which is sad.

Because I found the "wait for sex" thing as bad as with sex. Either way, Shepard isn't her friend alone.

I see Vivienne not being race-gated for elves, though, because Orlasians have sex with elves all the time. I just hope it's like Leliana and the Dalish Elf where she is ASTOUNDINGLY RACIST.

It wouldn't bother me if Blackwall was gay and gated, since Solas is gated as the second straight romance. It's not my ideal situation, but it would be nicer than getting the least options of any demographic, again.  

 

But, like I said, I don't expect it. I think it'll be Vivienne and she'll probably be straight or maybe bi.

Also speaking as a straight man, I only found Leliana interesting when she was talking about either her religious convictions or the time she was an assassin. Not much of an interest in flowers or shoes.

 

Dragon Age 2 was problematic because it wasn't so much I didn't like Isabella did her own thing but I didn't much care for every line out of her mouth being a lie or an attempt to manipulate me. I didn't particularly care for her breaking down and having a big emotional breakthrough, though, in the Third Act. Hawke was happy with being her friend and lover without her wanting to change everything about her. She seemed to think my being consistently nice to her meant I wanted her to CHANGE for some reason.

 

Aveline liked Donnic despite Mage Hawke's anvil-sized hints he enjoyed strong women who WEREN'T insane.

 

Is it so hard to have a romance with a straight woman which isn't also a form of therapy?

 

I almost decided to go with Merril because it'd be a relationship based on being a relationship but that was a little TOO cutesy. My Hawke could only end up talking with her about Blood Magic.

Which probably freaked the others out, to be honest.

I went with Leliana in Origins because for similars reasons. That and red head and French accent.

Isabela in 2 because it felt the most real and she seemed alot less co depended on Hawke the the others and I felt it was best if those kind of relationships stayed on a friend level. She won me over during her intro when she beat the snot out of three guys and the cute way she says "I like duels. It's what I do". She has a dorky sense of humour too By end game after she slowly started becoming a better person, she's the kind of woman I'd date IRL. Same with Leliana, except from the beginning for her.

Blackwall being a "hard gay" type to go along with Iron Bull versus Dorian would be a good decision, IMHO.

On my end, I'm torn between two different romance options on the assumption Vivienne is bisexual.

Cassandra: Cassandra is the "easy" pick because she's a knight in shining armor, Eowyn to my Faramir Goody-Goody. I'm going to be a Mage, she's a Templar. There's excellent fodder there both ways. She's also Nevarran and I'm considering becoming a Necromancer so that might be good too to explore. On one hand, though, that might be a little TOO traditional. The type-A personalities together.

Josephine: Josephine is an interesting case because it seems like she's going to be like Kelly or Samantha Traynor, two of my favorite underrated characters from ME. The non-action girl doesn't always appeal to me but I've liked both of them. There's also the very real possibility she WON'T be saddled with a mountain of emotional issues and we can skip the Warrior Therapist part of our romance.

 

It's why my Shepard dated Ashley. Subordinate and Commander aside, it wasn't dealing with a girl's crush OR Daddy issues or traumatic pasts or so on.

 

Vivienne: She's Orlaisian and I've made one exception for that country. Never again.

If Blackwall is a straight LI and Cullen is race gated against qunari and dwarves then the only PC's that have more than two options are female humans and elves.

I would be disappointed if Blackwall was gay, but it would be a good compromise.  I fully intend to romance Dorian with a male inquisitor, so I can adapt my inquisitor for Blackwall with even greater ease.  I just don't want to see it the other way around, with the personality of the LI changing to suit the desire of the inquisitor.

As a straight male gamer, I actually wouldn't mind if gays, lesbians, and straight women all had more options than me UNLESS that was the reason. Punishing people to "even out the suffering" does not make things equal. It only escalates tension and negativity.

I'm trying not too invested in what's to be revealed next, so whatever they're going to reveal, as long as Dorian's not race-gated, I should be fine and dandy. After getting that spiel off my chest, I think I'm good.

I don't want to punish straight people. I would rather everyone got equal options. It's not my preference that straight people get less options, not at all. If they're going to make the options unbalanced, though, I would just like it if sometimes they slanted towards gay characters. It's not so that you get less, specifically. I would rather we got the same amount. If that's not an option, though, I would rather I didn't always get less. That's all. There's no malevolent intent against straight people.

I'm a straight man. There are two women I can romance.

If I was a gay man, there are two men I can romance.

Straight women have three, but only if their an elf. Lesbians have 2.
