I hope I don't come off as snobby or ride, I'm just curious.

Why is everyone so invested in these romances to the point they'll actually cry if they don't get the guy/gal they want? We haven't even met these fictional characters yet. I'd just like to hear the reasoning behind it, hopefully no one takes the question the wrong way

I'm not very passionate about a lot of things. But I just love getting completely absorbed into the characters of Dragon Age. It's such a thrill when you find new information and when you get good news. Of course this comes with downsides but it's part of the ride. It's fun!

I'm really hoping for a gay or bi Vivienne that's not gated from dwarfs or an anything Blackwall, gay, straight, bi I really do not care at this point I'll make a male PC for him if needed I just want him to not be gated from dwarfs. I fear my chances of this are slim, given how restricted Solas was.

Nope, and it really shows what a bad person I am cause I'm kind of irked about it (quickly getting over it) cause I don't like playing as elves but I'm almost tempted to make a female elf do a bit of light flirting then skip off into the sunset with someone else.

well it just seems unfair that elves are favoured (and then only females) and get a very special romance
People here are more pissed that straight guys aren't getting more options or that gays aren't treated equally (regarding LI's)
but I'm more pissed about female elves getting extra treatment there should have been a "special" LI for every race

I don't think "special romance" is the right term. Solas's writer wanted his romance to be very specific for some reason. We don't know why yet. Maybe it's tied to certain plot elements that are only there if you're an elf. It's not so much favouring female elves as focusing on a very unique story. As for why female elves are the ones that have one of these very specific romances, that's up to the writers and what they most feel like focusing on. Judging from The Masked Empire, Patrick Weekes really wants to write about elves and their relationship to the Fade. Thus, Solas's romance is elf-centric.

I think I"m leaning towards either Iron Bull or Sera. Cullen will be for a much later curious playthrough since I really need to see his character in game first before I get an opinion of him other than eh^^;

Marketing wise...they simply are not going to listen to the group of fans that have the most entitlement issues.

 

They have to think about the whole picture.

 

And yes it sucks you can't romance who you want in this game but you can't get everything you want in this world. 

 

I plan to romance them all.    Because what I see is a game that has UNLIMITED replayability.

I agree. People should definitely play the game before making assumptions.

It would be nice if people would admit that its not about the lack of choices. Its about not being able to romance WHO they want.

If I may ask what do you consider counting as a romance? I'm not saying that I don't count Solas as one (unless you need to make very specific choices in the past games to be able to romance him but I doubt that's the case) I'm sorry I know this is an odd question I'm just curious to know what requirements are needed for some to count as a romance its quite interesting to hear other people's thoughts on the matter.

I assume by "Do anything" you mean romance, and it's because she was a romance in DAO.

She's already been romanced by the Warden and if they did another romance with her, it'd feel pretty familiar.
