Well Solas was only revealed because Mark Darrah was under the impression the information was already out there.

I feel like I won't give a ... completely by the time they'll actually anonce anything. It's unhealthy to get so focused on anything that goes over and over again without the end.

 

I also don't bother about the Keep anyway, because there're too many players and too little keys. Whatever. Just whatever.

Seriously, I just want to get the final disappointment out of the way. I just don't see why more het romances are necessary. If I want an exclusively heterosexual/heteronormative romance story there are thousands of titles to choose from.

More that I'd love to see Vivienne have very strong opinions on the various races or predispositions which can prove to be incredibly wrong or pig-headed.

I think it should be noted that there are 2 options, which is way more than...anything else I can think of.  I'm not saying to just shut up and be satisfied, but you can't pretend like there's no representation happening.  

I haven't said anything because I haven't been following the LI close enough to know all of the details, but from what I understand there are the same amount for gay characters as there are for straight characters.

 

But I was told on this very forum (in a post that received many "likes")that because I was straight I should be forced to have all gay romances so I know what it feels like.  (that might not be a direct quote but it was something very close to that and meaning I was incapable of empathy.)

While I'd love for there to be an even or majority, this is a problem with the game industry/world that more gay dollars are not being appealed to.

Coming off of DA2 though, in which all the options (save Sebastian) were bi, however, it is definitely a step backwards. I am happy to see Sera and Dorian though. I just don't see why exclusively hetero romances need to be included at all. And, as it currently stands, there are more straight romances than the other orientations. 3 LIs are straight. People are disappointed because there is less than what we had been given previously, and given the way non-straight LIs are often treated in the games, people are concerned about what it means for those characters and their personal story arcs. Non straight LIs are so very often non-essential to the story in that you can kill them off or skip recruiting them in the first place, and many of us are worried that is what is going to happen again, especially with returning characters like Cullen and Cassandra, who are already returning characters, and thus likely to be central to the main storyline. It's a multi-faceted issue beyond 'I didn't get to romance who I wanted.'

 

Yes there is representation happening, but there has been room for improvement in the past titles, and I am extremely nervous that we're just going to be retreading old ground.

When they want to tell a story about a character that includes their sexuality at least, it is certainly needed.  Dorian's story almost certainly includes him not wanting to marry a woman in order to make powerful mage children because he's gay.  Alistair's story could have had unfortunate implications as a king if he had to dump you when he becomes king because he needs to be with a woman to have children.  Solas's story I believe will have a particular story reason for the straight part as well as the elven part, but we'll have to wait for the game to come out to see.
