Sera comes across as the type who wouldn't even want kids so I don't see why this is even being discussed as it has nothing to do with romance in the actual game, the inquisitor and the romance options having kids is nothing but fan fiction and fan art material

 

 Just because marriage and kids aren't in the game, doesn't mean there won't be conversations with your LI about those things in the future. And I think it's a perfectly valid theory that Solas' gating might have to do with his desire for elf kids (even if it doesn't happen during the game). *shrug*

 

I was just arguing the point that Sera being a lesbian doesn't mean she has no interest in having elf kids in the future.

Because it's something that's come up multiple times with hetero relationships, but never in same sex relationships. Some LGBT people do want a family and would like to see those discussion touched on in game, like they have been for hetero couples. It may not be with Sera, but consider that, even if Sera hasn't considered it, maybe the player would like it to be something their character has considered and would like to speak with their partner about considering.

This is a good point... I mean, even if the LI in question has no interest in the idea, I don't see why the PC couldn't bring up the topic.  This type of conversation is a valuable exchange that gives deeper insight into both characters, and could add some much needed drama to the romance plotlines... I'm in favor of it.  Let the LI object if they feel the need, but don't prevent the PC from verbalizing their desires.

I don't think Solas and the parameters set for his relationship have anything to do with preserving a culture or having babies.

 

I mean, that'll be too obvious. We're getting into the whole "mystical pregnancy" trope and that's a whole can of worms I rather not open in this fandom. Again.

Threads don't get locked because of (relevant) discussion. They get locked because of offensiveness, abuse, prolonged off-topicness or because there's more than one about the same subject. If you don't like this kind of romance discussion, leave and come back when people have moved onto something else, or try to productively start something relevant that you want to talk about.

I seriously don't understand why this would get the thread locked. Discussion of issues relating to children has been a part of at least 3 romance plots for characters that I know of. It's definitely something that happens and it's likely to happen with characters this game, whether it's a cause for their locks, or not. We're discussing, in a completely civil manner, how that could be expanded to same-sex relationships, because DA hasn't done that before. Why would the mods take issue with that?
