Because BioWare's not part of the real world, right? It doesn't come from the real world, and it has no effect on the real world.
It just floats around, in its own little bubble universe. Cultural context? What's that?

I've already reported him for going off topic and bring real world problem in were they have no place.
Thank you, Now maybe this can go back to the topic. Which romance option is everyone interested in the most and why?
Thread needs more comedy.
I heard that there will be multiple ways to approach romances.
I wonder if this means there will still be Rival Romances as well as Friendmances.
Just not the way it was done in DA2.
I think the issue could be handled more gently, but it's fair enough that Bioware's treatment of gay men has not been great. There have only been two games where gay men have had more than one romance option, DA2 and ME3. In both cases, at least one demographic had more options still. It's very rare to find gay males in-world in Bioware games that are not romances. In fact, less so than some other studio's games. (Borderlands 2, Skyrim, New Vegas) The few times it's happened, it needed to be stated by devs outside of the games to be made clear.
It's definitely nice that Bioware is taking a more progressive stance than some studios, but they could handle it better. Their record isn't mind blowingly wonderful and could definitely improve. I understand asking to acknowledge that they're one of a handful of more progressive studios, but to act as if we should be kissing their feet for the progress is going too far. I am thankful that Bioware is making an effort but, yes, I think they should keep making an effort to do better than they have thus far.
Dragon Age is not a bloody sex simulator, if all you want is gay romances perhaps you should find a different game.
All big-budget games spend a long time in development. How's that an excuse?

Currently announced ? Dorian.
But I'm most excited for Blackwall if he's an LI, and oh man do I hope he's an LI.

My guess is that there will be low-approval and high approval romances, since Friendship/Rivalry isn't being carried over.
I take it back, he's got less than a week.
Hahaha, wow.

Cassandra and Sera
It's ridiculous to complain about all of that just before Inquisition is released though. We have no idea how many gay NPC's there will be in the game.
It's ridiculous? No, it's really not. It's been every game Bioware has ever made. It's not "ridiculous" to assume there's a decent chance this one will not be a complete turn around. It's perfectly reasonable to assume the chance is as good or better that things will remain the same, especially with at least one extra straight romance now announced, which lends towards not much change.
If Bioware proves that it's making strides forward, then I will praise it for doing so. I'm not going to give praise for something that may exist. That's what sounds ridiculous, to me. I'm happy that they're among the more progressive studios and I'm not saying that should be completely ignored. That's why I speak with my money and buy their games. You know why I'm not complaining to Ubisoft? Because I know they don't care and they're not going to make a gay protag for Assassin's Creed. That's also why I don't buy their games. For companies like Bioware and Bethesda, I show my support by purchasing their product. That doesn't mean I'm not going to voice my opinion about what they could still do better. They're better than most and I'll give them my money because of that, but I'm not going to give them credit for things there's not even evidence that they've done. I'm going to base my perspective on the evidence we actually have.
I'm Looking forward to Cassandra.
and it can wait to be BFF with Dorian.

Dorian, first and foremost. Hated the guy at first sight and thought he was a loser, but the more I got to know of the character, the more I began to like him. And my Inquisitor's relationship with him would hopefully reflect that, if the game mechanics allow for it.
The Iron Bull is another that intrigues me, both as a character and as a companion. Then there's Josephine, who I already adore.
what are you hoping for as approval status goes? i mean me personally am just happy with the gift spamming thing but theyve already said thats not going to be the case in DAI
My guess is that there will be low-approval and high approval romances, since Friendship/Rivalry isn't being carried over.
I worry about that because I liked Rival Romances but I fear 0 approval would cause them to leave, even if they're in a romance with you.
I hope Companions leaving is solely due to in-story events like Leliana and the Urn of Sacred Ashes.
I love you Ceol.
What can I say ? I'm a witty fellow on occasion. ![]()

Directly insulting another poster is totally apropos, but don't bring politics in here!

My hopes with approval is that you don't need to reach an arbitrary value to advance a relationship. Instead you do that for questing. Approval affect the tone of the relationship.

Cassandra *AND* Josephine.
It's terrible, I can't choose between them.

I think it's negative approval where they leave. 0 is just the starting state.
Hahaha, wow.

Edit: Couldn't follow my own advice. Such a shame.
You really need to drop this victimhood complex and take this crusade somewhere else. It has no place here. And if you're mad about people insulting you, it's because you're being obnoxious and has absolutley nothing to do with your sexuality.
Hahaha, wow.

I was wrong you don't think the world owes you you think it's out to get you.
... well it's not things arn't perfect but there better than 10 - 20 years ago.

I figure they'll only leave due to some massive consequence choice because the Inquisition is kind of important
