I... actually agree with this one
Especially gifs. Ugh, at least fanart is not offtopic...
Fanart, some of it is pretty cool, but some of it, it's so oversexualized that it borders on softcore porn.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE
You are embarrassing me in front of the bigots!
You said you were going to sleep, so I thought I could be sappy while you were gone and you wouldn't see it. >___>
haven't you been banned enough times?
Obviously not
Sometimes, on a cold, lonely night like tonight, I get an urge to sneak out onto the untamed moors and dance the dance of the douchebags.
You know what ? I like you, I hope you don't get banned, ![]()
Because what happens in a video game is not "perfectly natural and unavoidable" it's a game. The way it's made and the things show in it can be changed. And the fact that my real life is already affected is why I want it to change in media. Because it can be changed, it can be made equal for everyone.
Not all media is escapist. But I do respect BioWare for what they are trying to do, and wish other developers would give it a try as well. I just don't think does who don't do so, or do it differently, are necessarily homophobic, unfair, or otherwise participating in any form of discrimination.
In the same vein that I don't think BioWare is being unfair with anyone here. Criticism should occur, because everything can always be improved further. But people saying that even if all romance options were gay males it would still not be good enough strike me as just as entitled and childish as the Straight Male Whining Brigade that showed up on the forums when Sera was revealed to be a lesbian.
I fell off the wagon. ):
I just need one more hit, baby. And I swear I'll check into rehab tomorrow.
He's a member of the forums that was banned before, for similar reasons as tonight. Most people here will not respond well, but I've known him for years outside of the BSN. He's actually the one that introduced me and my boyfriend to Bioware games, as it turns out. And he had a lot of praise for them back then. I don't agree with how he's handling this and he knows that, but he is a good person that just has put up with enough concerning gay issues that it's difficult for him to deal with it any other way right now. I understand people being annoyed, especially because they have no frame of reference for where his anger is coming from. I wish he wouldn't address this so aggressively, because he is an intelligent person with a lot of good points to make, and that's getting lost. But, like I have hope that Bioware will do better, I have hope that my pessimist panda friend will do better. Call me ever the optimist. lol
He will be annoyed with me for saying this if he isn't banned by time he gets back, but he'll get over it.

If he had an attitude like yours I dont think anyone would have a problem being polite to him.
Should, as in, it is the moral thing to do? Totally. Should, as in, they are morally obligated to, and if they don't do it there's clearly something wrong with them? Not so much.
Maybe I don't really to this issue because I think art and the media should enjoy full artistic freedom instead of being scrutinized for offensive portrayals. I have never cared much about those. I have never cared about stereotypes or lack of representation of Hispanics in the media, anymore than I care about people thinking I'm Mexican and saying that surely I like spicy food.
I mean, I cringed when I heard about Spiderman being made Hispanic in one of the comics, and I don't even read them. But that's an altogether different matter for another day.
To be honest, I don't really know the answer to that. It's a complicated question. But the least we can do is take the concerns of the community to heart and see if we can't learn from it and work together for a better representation.
Ceoldoren, if you're ever in need of me, whisper my name to the trees.

calling everyone around you bigots doesn't lend itself to civil discussion
Romance =/= sex. I think you have an incredibly limited or immature view on romance and sex. If I say that I want to romance Blackwall because I find him sexy, that is not the same thing about "fantasizing about having sex" with him. I see very few posts about "having sex" with any character. There are posts about how sexy a character looks. Or how people hope they can romance them.
The only "having sex" posts that I can think of are the #ridethebull ones and the ones about Solas having the Inquisitor's babies. Otherwise, it's not about the physical act of sex. You seem to have difficulty separating the two.
Well I guess I'll have to dive into these threads and find these imaginary posts I always see when I go in there.
But before that I have to add #ridethebull, killed all interest I had in Iron Bull. He was looking to be my favourite companion when he looked like an awesome mix of Black Whirlwind and Grunt, but they decided to turn him into a mix of Zevran and Isabella.
Hey, Nocte's not a bigot!
And Ceoldoren and I may have had our differences at first, but I'm sure in another life we might have been bosom friends.
And that chick fisting the whale seems tolerable.
Sorry, dolphin.
Fisting the dolphin.

Blame the devs then. That hashtag came directly from them.
Also, he's still an awesome mix of Black Whirlwind and Grunt, just one that is bisexual.

I don't think it's necessarily homophobic either. But it's hard to not be hurt when they don't at least try to put a little into some LGBT representation. I also agree that saying that all of the romances being gay would not be enough is stupid. I don't expect that, I'm fighting to be on the same level as everyone else, and I don't want anyone to get less for me. Straight or otherwise.
Sorry, dolphin.
Fisting the dolphin.

Hah that had me laughing out loud! I take it you haven't seen Archer? xD
...I think someone might be high in here.

I think we would've been friends, you seem like a good guy. If a bit too aggressive. ![]()
I've seen snippets while my mother was watching it.
That is actually not a joke.

Do you not feel like you're being represented in Bioware games? This is the first DA game to have outright gay characters. ME3 had outright gay characters. Not bisexual, not playersexual, but characters with their own preferences, that they liked men/women, and would not swing one way or the other for the player.
Char, it is a combination of BioWare and BSN users, but certain individuals can definitely take more credit than others.
Of course, that's not to say my real life is peaches and cream.
