That's the same everyone has. Except straight females, who got an extra one in DA2, and straight males, who got a hell of a lot in ME3.
Except that there is one more option to come. And there's no way for that option, regardless of who they are, to be for both gay men and lesbians. So, gay people (men, women, or both) are going to have the least amount of options again. That's the point.
Straight females have three options. One of them being an advisor doesn't change that, or make the two companions any less! What about lesbian women who at the moment have only one companion option-Sera, and one advisor. By your logic this must surely be worse.
EDIT: For personal opinions' sake, I should just add that I don't feel slighted at all to have the highest number of available LI's. I feel guilty, but not slighted, and my Inquisitor will be romancing Cullen
You should not feel guilty about it. Enjoy all three of your options! They all seem pretty damned cool. And then, afterwards, we can bond over how awesome IB is for both of us!
I know, I was just pointing out that two companion LI's would be seen as superior to some people.
Also, I think Blackwall is more likely at this point than Vivienne. Or straight female dwarves and gay male dwarves would have had only one option before Iron Bull was un-gated. In fact, straight female dwarves would not have had a single companion romance!
Yeah, but once you start putting in what some people see as superior, it loses all validity. I could legitimately think that elf romances are inferior, but that doesn't devalue them for people who like them.
I had to come to terms with Cullen being an advisor a long time ago. I was really heartbroken that he wasn't a full-fledged companion. He was the one character that I was really interested in. I'm not that in to Iron Bull. I have to play as an elf to be with Solas, also another character that I wasn't all that into. So as a hetero female who wanted to go adventuring with her love interest, I feel pretty screwed. But again, I've come to terms with the fact that Cullen is stuck at Skyhold while I go run around the countryside.
We don't know this yet. In fact, there is evidence that Cullen will be able to accompany you in some capacity.
He's elf romance, for people who play elf who's female and straight.
I just mean that he's no more option for straight qunari than he's to gay elf.
12,5% of possible Inquisitors can romance him. I can't be happy with that.
But he still counts as a straight female romance. If I chose not to romance Steve because he's an NPC, I can't very well say that he's not an option for me.
Honestly, nothing grates on me more than when straight people start "not counting" options that clearly exist. I really hate to be overtly hostile, but what this shows is that you seriously don't understand what it's like to really, actually not have options that do exist. Gays and lesbians consistently deal with really having less options. Not ones that they write off because they don't meet all the requirements you like. I would love to have Solas as an extra option for elves in addition to two more viable options. I would love to have the ability to romance Garrus, a long standing, favorite party member with an incredibly well developed backstory, rather than an NPC that shows up in the last game with nothing to talk about but his dead husband.
And it's even more grating after being told repeatedly that I "don't appreciate what I get". I'm really sorry, but this issue makes me want to tear my hair out.
THIS! 100% agree. If the character is in the game and a straight female can access him, then he's a straight female romance.
