I think blackwall will not be a LI. I mean, he's a gray warden for who-knows-how long? Maybe he's just going to do his stuff and stays away from romance. My money is on viv ( but I silently pray for blackwall... )

 

 

Maybe BW's romance would be similar to Thane's? Like romance ending with him going to the Calling. That would be very sad though.

Hello there *waves* -- I've been away from the forums for quite a while (was still BSN the last time I was around), but I figured now was a good time to get back into the loop 

 

After reading through the thread (though I admittedly skipped a lot of the OT stuff... and most of the *grrr* discussions), I've come to realize I'm weird about LI choice.  While most people are talking about which LIs are available to their preferred gender/sexuality/race, all I was wondering was which romance stories Gaider wrote.  In the past games, I always liked the DG romance(s) the most, so that's what I'm focused on.  Guess that means my first two Inquisitors will be dudes, since I'll be going after Dorian and Cassandra before the rest.  From what little we know at this point, I'm thinking Dorian first, but we'll see what happens.  I'll get to all of them eventually

They said that the gating is tied to story, and that Solas has a very strong stroy reason to be gated for female LI's only. With this in mind I struggle to see Cassandra being gated, because we already know a lot about her and nothing about her story that we've seen so far is a reason to be gated to anyone. If anything she seems more likely to be gated against mages than anything else, since discrimination against them was a large part of her story, but we know that no Li will be class gated.

 

If anything Vivienne is the companion for whom gating would make most sense given her story, but Gaiders comments implied that since Solas was gated she won't be if she is an LI.

Either Viv/Blackwall is gated or:

 

- Cass is gated, Viv is straight ungated

- Cullen is gated, Blackwall is straight ungated

- Sera is gated, Viv is gay ungated

- Dorian is gated, Blackwall is gay ungated.

 

Of course they could make them bi as well. But those are probably the conditions we have.

 

This is the best summary of the likely scenarios. I'm still operating under the assumption that Vivienne will be the last LI, restricted to human males. I don't think the devs will touch the two homosexual romances or the two heterosexual ones, But if they do, they'll have to provide another gay/straight romance for the gender that misses out.

 

So much simpler if Vivienne or Blackwall is racegated.

Is it just me or am I the only one so disappointed with these romances. For us straight females we only have Cullen and Solas who is race restricted. And for straight guys they have Cassandra. And then we have all these bisexual characters or lesbians and gay characters which is really pissing me off. 

Might as well do a Dragon Age 2 and slap bisexuality on every single character so we can have MOAR. CHOICES. BioWare has been so good on their romances. From Alistair and Morrigan to Garrus and Tali ect. And the most anticipated game of theirs and we get this.

Vivienne: Your finest salad with blue cheese dressing, but go light on that dressing. Make sure to top that off with red wine vinaigrette, darling.

Sera: Strawberry milkshake and a hot dog. Actually, make that a corndog.

Blackwall: I'm having a breakfast platter. Two eggs, scrambled, hash browns and toast. And a cup of coffee, black.

Solas: I'll have a large order of fries with a small clear soda, no ice.

Josephine: A dozen nuggets. To split.

Iron Bull: One of everything, and extra on the kebobs.

I really doubt Cassandra would be race-gated. Sure, she's a devoted right-hand of the Divine and is an Andrastian through and through, but I get the impression that Cassandra follows her heart more than societal prejudices. In fact, she's among last names I would have picked for a race-gate.

 

Anyway, I think Vivienne is going to be last LI, bisexual and race-gated towards humans only.

 

If that's not the case, the other likely prediction is Blackwall, bisexual and un-race-gated, with Cullen being restricted from Qunari. But I doubt this will be the case.

I wouldn't bother with this one. The poster seems to have some strict rules that the romances she would rather indulge in are with totally heterosexual characters.
