I wonder why?
I suppose it's just a pragmatic choice. We're probably the smallest demographic. Still, it really blows if you are part of the demographic.

I'm almost certain they aren't though. Sera and Droian's sexualities were big talk and are breaking the mould. Considering that they were both given such a big reveal (A television broadcast and it's own blog post, respectively) months ago when the characters were first announced I can't image that either Vivienne or Blackwall would also be homosexual, and given no special reveal or mention before release.
I disagree about Dorian. His was a two sentence thing in his character interview, which every other character got. I don't consider his to be a "big reveal".

Well, look at it this way: there are zero dwarf love interests and there never have been. I almost want to say they get snubbed even more than homosexuals! ![]()
Human male only Vivienne does seem like the most likely outcome.
Though it is odd to leave her LI reveal to last since she was one of the first three companions to be announced. Unless her romance path was only added after the year extension (which would make sense, if she is gated).
Well, they planned to announce her and Solas together, I believe. They accidentally leaked Solas. Mark Darrah thought a blog had already been released and spoke about it over social media. The blog they talked about still isn't out. I assume both Solas and Vivienne will be in it, and I think it's very likely they're both gated, hetero romances. That's just my assumption, though.
It's worth noting, though, that Solas was also one of the very first companions to be heavily featured in photos and such, though information on him went dark pretty soon after.

The mustache was eloquent enough. ![]()
It's probably going to be Vivienne as a gated, hetero option. That would be the least surprising outcome.
Personally, I find a hetero Viv to be unlikely. On the other hand, I thought Solas would be bi, so what do I know... if it absolutely must be Vivienne, then making her bi but race gated would probably be for the best.
Guys, I know you won't really like this, but for the sake of argument I'll play the devil's advocate for a little while:
If Blackwall's the last LI and he turns out to be bisexual or worse, straight. Would you be more ok with it if Cullen's gated against one or more races? There have been some speculation that he could be gated against qunari and/or dwarfs.
I think most of you know that I would have preferred it if we had equal numbers, and just to be clear: I do not want the last LI to be straight. This is just a hypothetical scenario to discuss.

I don't mean this to sound rude, so I hope you don't take it that way, but I don't think lack of options for an imaginary race are really the same at all as lacking a real life demographic.

There's only one thing about Dorian that will be a "big" reveal...
sorry, I had to. hee hee

But there are dwarves in real life. Little people. etc.
I don't follow the news, but wasn't it said that Iron Bull wasn't supposed to be romanceable at first or something, and there were always going to be at least 2 LIs for each gender and sexuality combo? Which would mean 3 or even 4 (for straight women if remaining LI is bi male) options for androsexuals now and 2 for lesbians and straight men?

No, more restrictions wouldn't make me more ok with restrictions.

I would vastly prefer a bisexual Blackwall (Granted I'm mostly just a fan of Blackwall) so if it did happen and Cullen had to be gated... Yes, I'd be perfectly fine with it.
Though, how much my opinion matters is subjective considering I'm not really a fan of Cullen and don't plan on romancing him anytime soon.

I would have preferred Iron Bull race gated. But I'm just being selfish because I had a fun playthrough planned out for my female qunari and Cullen. If he's gated, then Sera will be it.

I would have no problem with this... a bi Blackwall and race gated Cullen sounds fair. Multiple genders and orientations get another LI option and my male elves won't have to deal with race gating at all. Sounds good.

Sadly no real choice in it. They said two will be race-gated, Solas is one and someone else has to be the other.

no, doesn't sound fair to me...with race gating you can easily play as another race, but you can't change your real life sexuality. I'd love to have four different gay choices, no matter which race I have to play as, because I would have so many options and the game a higher replay value. I just don't like playing as a heterosexual.

Bull wasn't romanceable to everyone from the start. He was originally gated. All BioWare has said in regards to the romances is that everyone will have a choice. That means everyone will have at least 2 options.
That could mean that originally straight females only had Cullen and Solas as options, but thanks to some extra hard work, everyone got the chance to romance Bull as well, making it 3.

I agree that they should focus on having LGBT characters/romances, but I think all of the comparisons people make to real life little people makes them less imaginary as they could be. A lot of people base their dislike of dwarves on the basis of being short and stocky, etc, which are traits that real life people can also have. I'm sure that while uncommon, there are also people with kind of close to the same body type of Dragon Age dwarf.
It's not like we're talking about having wings or snakes for hair.
I know. I just don't like it.
I don't like it much either but them's the breaks. All you can do is adjust your plans as best you can... Provided marketing stops being a few impolite words and just get it over with.

But if Blackwall is bi, then gay males have... 3 choices. You want 4 options? 3 is already more than most others, who have 2. And even that's not enough? Unless everyone is bi, I don't see how this is possible...

It's not enough for lesbians, and they're also a minority. I care for them, you know? I don't think it's okay to give heterosexual females twice as many options as homosexual females....

The players are not of any of those fantastic races, but they are gay or straight men and women (or bi, etc.). Race gating takes away nothing, you just have to replay the game as different race. It actually even adds to replay value. So in the end, even if each LI for straight women was just for one race, the straight women would still have 4 romances just for themselves.
It's completely uncomparable with having to play as someone of different gender, or having no romance option you can be attracted to due to your sexuality.
