If Blackwall and Viv were both LI and bi, that would really solve everything.
A more equal scenario would actually involve a bisexual Vivienne and a gay Blackwall. That way, everyone would've had three options.

I'm hoping that it's the former too just because I don't like the idea that if Epler didn't "fix" Iron Bull that straight female and gay dwarves (at the least) would only get one option
Why? There are no players who are of dwarf species.
Why? There are no players who are of dwarf species.
So there are still 2 straight male, 2 straight female, 2 gay male, and 2 gay female options, and 2 bisexual options, all through the magic of multiple characters fitting one category.
So what's all this about bioware not doing things to provide for gay players?
I think people need to actually play and digest the game (or watch and digest Youtube playthoughs if you're sitting on your money), before they can judge if Bioware gave gay players a fair shake.

Ummm, what do you mean? We have plenty of people here on the forum that want to use dwarves in DAI...

1 more option for straight female and with Viv, possibly one more straight option for males.
Unless Blackwall happens and he's bi. Or straight.
They said they would try to give everyone equal options when it came to sexuality.
The thing is someone is gonna be short changed, they only have so many LI's to go around. And dividing the worth of each LI into who is in the gay camp, straight camp, bi camp is sorta depressing. These characters are worth more than what their sexuality is. I rather a well written character first and foremost and whatever Bioware chooses their sexual orientation to be well, so be it. I'll just work around it like I have before. I will always be pro set sexuality when it comes to the LI structure for these games, I like that each LI has their own orientation, makes them more real in a way, we all have choice.
If Blackwall and Viv were both LI and bi, that would really solve everything.
Not really, since straight women would still have one more. Nothing short of adding a whole new person to fill in gaps would fix it now. ![]()

there are three characters for straight females, and if Vivienne is also straight, there will be three for straight males as well...if she's bi, all groups have three options except gay males with only two. If Blackwall is bi, straight women will have twice as many options as lesbians... but let's wait until the remaining LI is announced.
Because I know people who love playing as dwarves?
And people shouldn't be overly penalized for playing outside of the most popular races.
(I play mostly humans myself)

Aaahh, that's true on a technicality... There could be little people who like playing Dwarves because that's the closest they get to being represented in a game? (sorry if I offend anyone with this)
My Final Line up
Cassandra- Male Only (all Races)- 1 option for all straight males
Cullen- Female Only (all Races)- 1 option for all straight females
Sera- Female Only (all Races)- 1 option for all gay females
Dorian- Male Only (all Races)- 1 option for all gay males
IB- Bi (all races)- 1 option for both straight females and gay males
Josephine- Bi (all races)- 1 option for both gay females and straight males
Solas- Female Elf Only- 1 option for straight females elves
Vivienne- Bi (Humans Only)- 1 option for gay female humans and 1 option for straight human males
Straight Male Human Options- 3
Straight Male Elf Options- 2
Straight Male Dwarf Options- 2
Straight Male Qunari Options- 2
Straight Female Human Options- 2
Straight Female Elf Options- 3
Straight Female Dwarf Options- 2
Straight Female Qunari Options-2
Gay Male Human Options- 2
Gay Male Elf Options- 2
Gay Male Dwarf Options- 2
Gay Male Qunari Options- 2
Gay Female Human Options- 3
Gay Female Elf Options- 2
Gay Female Dwarf Options-2
Gay Female Qunari Options-2
This is how I think it will turn out, though things could change depending on who is the last LI and how they 2nd race gate is gated but in my opinion this is how it will turn out.

Hmm yeah, that too..

Like I already posted, David said they were less concerned about giving choices based on the fantasy race you choose to play as. If you get only one option playing as a female dwarf, you don't have to play as a female dwarf. But does that mean "everyone", as in no matter what gender and race you are? or everyone in only sexual orientations?
Rarely have I been more tempted to use the like feature. They said they wanted everyone to have options.
That means 'gay characters will have two choices.'
Because I know people who love playing as dwarves?
Fine, but it's hardly comparable with having less options because of your gender and sexuality.
So there are still 2 straight male, 2 straight female, 2 gay male, and 2 gay female options, and 2 bisexual options, all through the magic of multiple characters fitting one category.

What's being said is that over the course of Bioware games, straight men have invariable been favored over gays, both male and female. The suggestion is that, just to break up the pattern, gays getting one extra option would be nice, for once. Just ONCE.
You're preaching and preaching, sounding like a broken record about this, but if it so happened that the remaining LI gave straight men an extra, then the numbers would be skewed in your favor. That's still inequality, and even MORE so, because in the past straight men have invariably been favored.
I don't know how this can be made more understandable.
Obviously, striving for complete equality is the ideal, but since that literally can't happen at this point... It would be nice, just once, for us to come out on top.
EDIT: Not gonna correct typos as it makes enough sense anyway. My brain is fried after five hours of calculus. :T

But there are human beings who are dwarves. As well as non-dwarf human beings who just like to play as a dwarf.
I bet Peter Dinklage plays video games, man. ![]()
I don't see BlackWall being bi or straight as that just blows the number of options that straight females have out of proportion.
Why does solas count as a straight female romance if you gotta be an elf to romance him? Wouldn't that make him Elvensexual instead of just straight? If the race gate is so restricted to just one race, doesn't it make more sense to classify him as his own thing?
Not that it matters, whatever vivienne or blackwall turn out to be, this is one front where things will turn out unequal anyway.
Personally, I don't care whether its one or the other, straight or gay. As long as folks don't get it in their heads that having inequality that favors their side, be it straight or lgbt, then hopefully something can be learned from all this and a future installment can do better.
ehm no? because he's only into female elves, not into males elves, so he's clearly heterosexual. A male lion who's into female lions isn't lionsexual, he's also heterosexual.... Same with us. No one would get the idea to call himself human sexual ô_o

a male lion who is into female lions is a lion last I checked
they don't really have concepts of sexual orientation or gender identity

Like I already posted, David said they were less concerned about giving choices based on the fantasy race you choose to play as. If you get only one option playing as a female dwarf, you don't have to play as a female dwarf.
And Allan indicated that it wasn't always the case that every gender/sexuality/race combination got two choices (i.e., any choice at all).
So my guess, which you've been asking about, is that gay male dwarves did indeed not have a choice in who they could romance at one point during development.
Rarely have I been more tempted to use the like feature.
So succinct in expressing how it seems a lot of the people in this thread feel.
