Ducks as well. And you'd think they would be gentler in that avenue than lions, but apparently not - do not google duck mating habits - it will give you nightmares.

many animals do it, dolphins are notorious for it, as well as raping everything

Why does what happened in past games affect this game in that way? There's already improvements made in this game over those of the past, and using that logic the only way for "equality", which is actually being used as a code word for "vindictiveness" is to make a game where every character was gay, and work backwards from there. So instead of relying on the past, and only the past, to argue about the inequality of dragon age inquisiton, we should maybe talk about dragon age inquisition? You can show that in the past there was inequality all you want, and you'd be right, but that doesn't really hold water as an argument that dragon age inquisition is being unfair to gay players in the present.

And your just once scenario ain't gonna happen in dragon age inquisition anyway, because its actually not possible to.

You see, say vivienne is the romance option. Gay males will get the short end of the stick at the least, and at the most extreme 3 out of the 5 groups will get the short end of things.

If blackwall is the romance option, its lesbians who get the short end this time around, with the same breakdown happening as before.

Which gender of people with an LGBT orientation deserves to get the upper and between them, since in any case, the other ones going to get screwed.

So tell me, where is this "just once" suppose to happen in DAI?

Or is it suppose to happen in the next dragon age game, instead of going for an equal split in the next game, because bioware needs to make up for this one character slight.

While the majority of this post is kinda blunt, I do have to agree with what is being said. I'm not too keen on the idea of "reparations" that's popping up on tumblr and, to a lesser extent, here. I would be much, much happier with equal options. Two for me, two for you. But, I understand where everyone is coming from here, and yes it is frustrating.

Not only that, even if Blackwall is bisexual (which I am hoping for), gay women still get shafted -- no pun intended. Ultimately, this is why I prefer the "everyone is bi" approach. No, it's not realistic, but it certainly dampens these feelings of unfairness.

not because they are attracted to them though

Who knows why animals do what they do? Researchers say it's for dominance, but who knows? Animals are just as unpredictable as human beings. (And we are animals too.) ;)

Guess no matter what, it's inequality.

Though I bet if it's straight Viv, you won't complain at all, yeah? I figured.

I'm done with this argument. I'll just lurk the thread now.

Cassandra, Iron Bull, or Josephine.

Those are the ones I'm gunning for in my playthrough. I could care less about Vivienne Wig-Wearer or Blackwall Split-Beard.

No need to be so upset, just because you didn't get your way in this internet fight.

A more equal scenario would actually involve a bisexual Vivienne

I am torn.

I think she's beautiful and awesome - I would love to romance her.

But at the same time, making her romanceable just makes ALL the women available. Like... why can't a young, beautiful woman like Vivi be unavailable? Is that a crime? Well... yes. To me, perhaps. But at the same time, I would respect the idea of her being unavailable - being too busy to be someone's arm-candy.

Nope. I'd vastly prefer Blackwall. No shame to Vivienne, I don't dislike her I just don't see her being interested in such things.

*snip*

Uh... I didn't mean to come off as upset. If I did, my apologies. I'm just snarky and sarcastic I guess. Hard to communicate that over text-only conversation.

I just want equality like everyone else. Just tired of things getting skewed. I mean, socially it makes sense. Even though homosexuality (and bisexuality) is becoming more generally accepted, it's still considered taboo among some people. Just ready for this sheiße to be over. They should announce it so that I can put it behind me and stop caring. At least I have Dorian and IB.

I have a feeling if she's not romanceable then she was never planned to be ... maybe because of story reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if she betrays me at some point.

So what's all this about bioware not doing things to provide for gay players?

I need to find another analogy because otherwise this will be post version no, 3,000 over the same ground.

(this analogy does not play well to vegetarians, just getting that out there...)

BioWare goes to buy a bucket of fried chicken from the chicken shop for 4 people, 1 gay, 1 lesbian, 2 straight (1 of each gender).

Looks in the bucket of chicken, there's enough chicken for two pieces each, but then there are 2 (maybe three) more pieces to share.

As the gay guy looks at his two pieces he sighs -

again? why am I always left with less chicken?

On past ordersI I sometimes had one piece and sometimes none at all...

They look at BioWare who say:

hey, we were focusing on how tasty each piece is, not counting the numbers,

it's great chicken...

Doesn't mean the person with the least chicken isn't disappointed (again)...

We've all been there. There was one too few bags of fries, the coleslaw was missed out,

or maybe you got a tiny piece of chicken when the other person got a big juicy piece.

You're not going back to the chicken shop just for one piece of chicken

and it won't put you off having chicken again, but it's annoying and it's not right.

Ok - the chicken bucket is a little short, we need to deal with that.

But next time anyone goes down the chicken shop, please make sure everyone gets an equal share....

- - - -

Oh, and just to show I'm paying attention to the rest of the thread:

Q: How does a man have sex with a Lion ?

A: Very carefully.

There are many proponents for Blackwall to be a love interest as well. I just mentioned Vivienne because statistics seem to be in her favor.

I don't know about tumblr, but I've definitely not heard good things about it generally. Here, I don't think anyone is advocating "reparations". I don't think many (if any) poster recently has been saying they want Bioware to actively make more gay LIs. Most every LGB poster here wants equal options.

What's being said is that, if Bioware insists on making unequal options, what's fair is to mix up who gets the extra ones. I don't believe what LGB players actually mean is that they want to keep getting those options until the 8 options gay men have gotten caught up with the mid-30s options that straight men have gotten. I think what we mean is that they start changing it out every time. So, last time straight women got Sebastian. This time it could have been gay men to get Solas, maybe then straight men, then lesbians, then straight women again. What's being said is that, as long as Bioware insists on making extras, equality in the long term means switching who gets the extra options across their releases.

Personally I think general acceptance is all that can really be expected without turning the pursuit of equality into a witch hunt. In our world which I would describe as miles more tolerant and good natured then the past, there's still a lot of pockets of hate for all folks, but now these people are more or less pushed into the margins, enough that it doesn't affect peoples lives on a day to day, hyper oppresive fashion. It allows for a diversity of thought and ideas, while also protecting folks from oppression and cruelty.

Regardless, I probably lost my temper as well in this thread, and had others think I had emotional connotation where none existed in other threads, so I understand the feeling.

That said, I meant what I said, I got no Interest in Vivienne Wig-Hat and Blackwall Bushface, and am already arguably satisfied with Iron Cyclops, Jossie Scribbles, and Cassie the Crazed Butt Stabber.
