I want to buy the game, but I don't want to deal with steam. It would have been awesome if it's on Origins though. Anyway, is there a way for me to play the game on anything besides steam? I'm not a fan of reconnecting to it every 24 hours.

I'm not too sure where your information is coming from, but Steam does not require you to reconnect every 24 hours.
As far as I can remember, that was a turfed idea for the Xbox One.

I'm one of the few people who actually prefer Origins over Steam. I don't even know what's so bad about Origins to be honest, or people just jumping on the hate bandwagon. I have an easier time connecting to Origin than to Steam, and a lot of the time when I take my laptop outside and forgot to connect to Steam offline, I can't play any of the game while with Origins, I could do offline games if it allows to without Origin being run offline.
Anyway, the question is more about if I can buy the game without Steam, still haven't had any answer for it yet.

Well, it's not on Origin. It seems that it's only on Steam. Amazon also says "DRM: Steam" Usually, new games sold on Steam are only sold on Steam.

That sucks, thanks for actually answering instead of providing social commentary.

Steam can be invasive and creepy. I prefer Origins as well. And don't forget GOG...

I find it less creepy than Origin automatically scans my computer and detects my manually installed EA games.

I wasn't aware it did that. All this DMR fuss is a royal pain.

Origin and Steam suck equally. If I had the choice to get a game DRM free, I would do it in a heartbeat. But if I were to pick between the two, Steam is probably more ideal. Origin has a long way to go in terms of improvements. Here's a small list of complaints I have with it.
- Resource intensive for a background program.
- No language settings for the store. (The store changes language depending on where you are, making purchases nearly impossible)
- Does things I do not approve of. Such as scanning my games and automatically making them require Origin to run. (ME2, etc)
- And more tiny tid bits.
On topic: No. As far as 2K is concerned, Steam is their only release platform on PC.

It once ate up my EA games and started to re-route the exe files so that they will launch from Origin instead, wtf. Was an update glitch though, but I had to fix some of my games. Creepy indeed.

Very simple. Origin scans your computer and looks in your files all the time, Steam does not do it, and if it does, it needs your premision Origin however, if you don';t agree to that term you can't play your game. So ya, it's not lolbandwagon. People don't like other people, more so companies looking inside their computer and doing who knows what with the info.

Could you explain this a little more? Were those games allowed to run on steam again? Was there any service charge? I only bought Skyrim through Steam. I guess that's why I never noticed this issue. I disabled Steam because when it was running it would take over and update anytime it chose, regardless of how I tried to set it up. I remember the instructions were vague and I had to focus more time on fussing with steam than I felt I should. So Skyrim was the only game I ever bought from them. I do feel EA is or was at that time easier to use. The only real problem I've had with EA was when my Dragon Age 2 download omitted the code to access some of the bonus material. Fixing this was time consuming and complicated. I feel both companies really have serious customer service issues.
But I know now especially not to buy EA games through Steam if I should ever be tempted. Does it do this scanning with games from GOG?

While this might have happened a long time ago, it hasn't actually done this for a while.

Did the TOS change? Because if it did not change and that is still in the TOS then ya.....
The fact that EA did this with Origin for years and you had to agree with that term is enough for people to hate it. It's not because lolbandwagon, some people also have download speed issues with Origin which they don't have on steam. There's lots of reasons why people don't like Origin and all are valid.

The ToS changed, which I find equal parts hilarious and stupid that so many people don't read those things. On top of that I have actually scanned to see what Origin is doing.
There are plenty of reasons to hate Origin just as there as reason to hate Steam(and I didn't actually call anything bandwagoning). Personally I find them about equal considering that the biggest advantage Steam had for me was the Steam sales which are quickly going to crap because of the abundance of shovelware and early access they've been getting recently. That and Origin is actually having better sales now.
Of course GOG is the ideal place for me to buy games if they have it there.

I don't have a problem with downloading speed for Origins, but maybe because I have fast internet. Anyway, the program only scan specific files and folders, so I don't have anything to worry about. I don't know why EA cares about my information and what they could do with it. Facebook seems more of a problem with personal information for me. It seems like the Xbox One thing where people freak out with the whole spying thing. Game companies have better things to do than watching you every minute. I'm using Origin for the convenience of not having to worry about signing into Steam offline. Their 48 hours return policy guarantee that you get your money back, and they sometimes give out free games.
