Because you player didn't put them in the hotbar.

Let's be clear, you are pouting because:

  1. You think you must have the corrects abilities for clearing every combat
  2. You are forced to prepaln
  3. The 8 abilities collide with the lore

?

No I am upset because this is an arbitrary restriction that I have yet to see a decent reason for.

You on the other hand seem bent on insulting everyone who disagrees with you

Indeed it is,I predict people will be posting character builds and skill sheets that are effective against all enemies because of this.

Yep, hence my earlier comment on cookie-cutter builds. Swapping out skills may sound good on paper, but when you end up having to do it more than a few times, it becomes a major hassle.

Dragon Age doesn't follow the d&d rules. Completely different system. DA:I just went a 180 on its own system, lore, and rules. that is where the problem lies.

Yes, that's why I said it reminds me of AD&D, not that it's a carbon copy of AD&D. ;)

You people don't seem to understand! This arguing amongst ourselves is futile, it only helps the maskirovka that bioware has so cunningly initiated against us, you think you can deter this non linear warfare with traditional shows of force? Bioware has attacked in such a way that allows them just enough plausible deniability to lull us all into a false sense of safety.

The only way is to not buy the game. Halt the funding of their war machine with the severist of sanctions designed to cripple their economy and infrastructure. Only then will we get what we want.

The time is nigh ladies and gentlemen.

Don't quit your day job.

See people, this is probably one of their agents hired to spread lies and confusion.

And don't worry, I wont quit my job. fighting evil fascist companies is just my weekend hobby.

...

Mass Effect 3. At least 16 endings. You got 3. You got to pick which color the ending blew itself up with. DLC later added three different slide shows to choose from.

...

Fixed it for you.

Also, my favorite: Mass Effect is an XBox exclusive, there are currently no plans to release it on other platforms such as PC. (A week later, PC version announced with screenshots of new UI and inventory screens as well as "Bring Down the Sky" additional PC content.)

Only useful if you trust the reviewer. Most reviewers these days are either marketing wannabes or they crap on every game to be funny. I prefer the funny ones, but neither group provides much in the way of useful information. A few, like Angry Joe, try to be honest and useful, but you gotta know who you're dealing with before taking a reviewer's recommendation, especially if you're paying full price at or soon after release.

I don't trust reviewers period after the **** they're currently doing, but that's another topic altogether and I don't feel like going on a rant.

That's why I said reviews with an 's' ;) hence use multiple sources to make an informed decision

System and rule can be changed however bioware want without explanation.

The only change that need an explanation are the one regarding the lore and this situation do not involve the lore.

Not asking for an explanation, and frankly, I don't care. Only thing that matters is: Do I like it enough to buy?

I assure you that if you take the first 5 hits from a google search for reviews the day after DAI is released, you'll very likely wind up with at least 4 who seem to think they're writing up the game for a fan site. The fifth one will probably be a youtube vid of someone who hates it because he thinks elves are stupid.

Most of the real reviews--the ones that provide a fair assessment of the game--will come out more than a week after release, too late for people run over by the hype train.

Of course, I pre-ordered the bloody thing, so I just have to hope for the best.

I think for you there isn't a decent reason for this decision, point.

And for what i saw i never insulted anyone, feeling insulted because i answered to you with the same level of aggresivity?

Then it's up to the person to see if that is satisfactory information.  It seems to me this isn't the first time you complained about reviews.  I am not sure what to say or whether I am supposed to argue back or agree with you?

as for waiting a week? well I can wait a month or 6 months.  So that too is up to a person's discretion/patience.

Come to think of it, I never used more than 8 skills even as mage. With warriors and rogues I used about 5 skills. Especially, in DAO, right before the fight against the Archdemon, I realized that I had my quickbar full on Morrigan but never used even half of the quickbar during combat. Even in MMOs I never use all that many skills.

So all in all I like the change, due to the reasons down below.

1. Pre-planning before a fight.

2. Organizing your skills correctly.

3. Cleaner UI.

In Awakening we had so many skills that differentiation between role was virtualy inexistent.

Being at a very high level would do that.

Gotta love BSN

"I can only have 8 abilities? BioWare SUCKS! This will make game so dull! Look at Witcher, that's how you make an RPG!"

*sit back and wait for people to remember Geralt's toolset in combat was like 2 attacks, block and few magic signs, for less than 8 abilities total*

...

aaaaany minute now.

Geralt could use all of his abilities. Bioware keeps the players from using all of the characters abilites. Huge difference. Think about it ;)

The point being, "all of Geralt abilities" boiled down to the number that people claim is going to make game dull because you spam the same things over and over etc. Yet surprisingly, the same people who cite Witcher as example 'how it should be done' apparently didn't find the Witcher dull, despite having only just as few abilities to play with.

Not really in the middle of the expansion my warrior hotbar was filled and with Anders and Velanna i had to pick which talent put in the hotbar for simply clarity on what i was selecting during combat

DA:I removes options you had in the first 2 games, for no good reason. The Witcher 2 follows the same rules as the first one (combat is abit changed but the rest works the same. Its about suddenly putting everything on its head.

You are past level 20. Level 20 was the maximum you could be in DA:O. That means you are on a high level.

It's like how people praised TW2 after DA2 announced a voice PC despite Geralt being more preset and also using a paraphrase.

Think it was pretty much impossible not reaching 20+ playing origins+awakening.
