Wait wait wait
Now we reached the point DA:I=D3 because it has 8 abilities ?
the over the top animation, the simplified gameplay (weapon styles), kewl before common sense. Stuff like that.

Exactly, this is why i think it is good thing to have a much limited number of quickbar slots is a good thing. More organisation and UI will be less chaotic.
I agree, Awakening showed that back in the days bioware guys didn't really made up their mind on how the whole skill system should work -

Why are we bothering? BioWare fanboys/girls are just going to agree with BioWare/EA regardless and say we complain too much; meanwhile many of us where hype as **** about this game until the 8 slots thing happened.
I don't think the limitation is result of 'not more room' but rather the opposite -- they designed the UI this way because they didn't have to bother with showing more than few slots.Fair enough. I just don't think there is no good reason for my mage to suddenly "forget" spells just because there arn't room for more on the quickslots. When the previous games solved this via the radial menu.

There's absolutely 0 need for restricting quickbar slots then. BW already slashed the number of available abilities.
from all those id use....maybe 6, the rest will just sit there looking pretty
Well, the way I play, I like to use spell combos for their bonuses.
Playing as a mage, you automatically assume the role of commander, and having many spells in your arsenal can greatly help you and your team in boss battles. Mainly it's because you'll always have something available while your primary spells are on cooldown. Whether playing defensively or offensively, you'll always have a plan B, or C, or D.

Umm...didn't BW mention there would more 200 different abilities in skill tree in total. That is more than the previous games. Unless, there were lying about that.
It is bad for console gamers too. Not just PC gamers.

Most of those are upgrades and passive skills, I belive.

In my typical blood mage/healer spirit damage build I'd regularly use about 9 of the spells on that bar, not counting passives. Add to that Blood Magic (stance), Blood Wound, and Blood Sacrifice and then situational things like CC or buffs and 6 doesn't even come close to cutting it as a mage in Origins. I'm sorry if you played on normal and just spammed AoE.

I love how people who don't play on PC come into this thread, pretend they do and then act like we're some minority. This is bad for PC gamers. Period. Point blank. End of conversation.
I have been playing on a PC since I was 9 years old. I have never ever played on a console, even on my friends console. A controller is completely alien to me.

Even though I am PC gamer, the tears of PC gamers is one of the best parts about coming to this website.
Thank you for sharing.
Also, even if there are less quickbar slots or skills, it doesn't mean the gameplay would suck. It is heavily dependent on the combat design. It could still be tactically challenging. It does mean the game is dumbed down for casual gamers.

Considering you've already made up your mind without waiting for Bioware to explain the details, I'd say your guilty of the same thing. You've assumed the game is going to be bad because of the UI, despite you claiming to be previously interested in it. So forgive me if I see this as the pot calling the kettle black,
Hey Bioware (Hey BSN, too),
Now you have done it - you say you are listening to us and then you repeat old misstakes or don't even take our critisism seriously (like people arguing against the removal of "real" healing magic, health regeneration out of combat etc.) and now you rob us of game-play variety, too?
I am sorry, but as I play mages mostly, I am used to using a whole range of abilities, spells etc. because they are helpfull - only having so few would have made DA:O very boring -.- (and certain situations even harder to manage/beat)...I loved to jump in as a replacement healer, if my main was down or take over the crowd control if my companion had his/her abilities on cooldown etc. - now what do I have left?
Either I go for full crowd controll and can't do any damage (because I don't have any quickbar-slots left), or go full damage and have no crowd controll or mitigation (because we can't heal anymore anyway)
Or I mix and become a "Jack of all traits master of none"-kind of character that is pretty useless IMHO -.-
Thanks guys, really...maybe I should look into not pre-ordering (I haven't done so until now, because I was very untrusting of you guys (now I do know why...I had a bad feeling, with you keeping so many details to your self...) after DA2 and even more so after Crap-Effect 3 (ME3)...both of which were not very good IMHO!)...
greetings LAX

Sorry, but:
What is there to say? - IMHO this is not justifiable (there is no real reason for it...except maybe crappy multiplayer and that does not count because I do not want that in the first place)
That's like the non-healing out of combat - I does not add anything worthwhile to the game, actually both mechanics detract from the fun the game could be IMHO, it just adds tedium and throws wrenches into playstyles etc.
