I'll just paste here what i wrote in the other thread :

Since you are forced to choose which abilities you equip on your hero and companions, you HAVE to think about what you need to survive.

So in some kind of way, it is indeed more tactical than have everything ready for anything.

For instance, take a real life soldier about to go on a mission. He have to prepare his gear and weapons but because he can't possibly take everything available, he have to choose what he think he will need, as his comrades have to do. And once they are in the mission, if they realize the situation they're in needs something they forgot, they will need to improvise with what they have and use some tactics to overcome the situation.

So yeah, i personnaly don't think of it as a bad thing. But well... I don't think my two cents will change anyone's mind...

I'm really baffled by the more tactical thing.

I mean...maybe it's just me but I'm going to put all the more dakka dakka skills on my hotbar and 2 support skills on designated healer dude who stays out of the way.

That's not tactical. That's just me bludgeoning really hard.

I also can't wait for me to forget to put the new skills on IB's hotbar. That's gonna be fun. Hopefully I'll realize it quickly instead of getting into a boss battle and going "why is he just auto attacking? Oh. Well ****."

I'm not gonna waste on of my precious 8 slots on a defense ability I only need in a handful of battles. (of course this means when I need it I'm up a creek but meh).

Sorry, but:

What is there to say? - IMHO this is not justifiable

And that's the problem. You've assumed it's not justifiable without even giving Bioware a chance to explain their thinking. That's been the problem with this entire thread. Instead of asking for an explanation, it began with a person hating their interpretation of why this was done. At that point, people dug in their heels and refused to consider anything else. I see straw man arguments, I see people assuming this is proof Bioware's not listening (which is untrue, they listen they just don't always agree with you), and I see people using the revealed UI to spin some rather wild theories about how the game will play.

Depends on how well they implement encounter design and scouting/researching enemies. So yes, it can add another layer of strategy, but it's also 180 from what the gameplay has been up till now.

You also weren't running an organization before so this is one of many changes.

Because there was already an active thread on this topic when this one was created and because there have been some pretty hostile responses in this one I am going to lock this down and direct conversation to the other thread. Please keep it civil.http://forum.bioware...or-dai-take-ii/
