So I'm in the market for a new vid card. I mostly only play this game but I will be giving DA3 a try (MP looks exciting).
I'm looking to spend under 200 bucks. I've gone with ATI in the past but I hear Nvidia is better so I'm leaning towards that brand.
What kind of card would you suggest for high FPS on this game under 200 bucks?
My leaning candidate so far is the GeForce GTX 750Ti
Need a bit of tech advice

Define high fps
good question, with my POS card right now I get an average of 30fps on a good day I'm looking for 60+ average and I'm totally fine with turning down settings (except resolution)

was looking into this model too, its about 30 bucks more, do you think its a significant improvement over the 750Ti?
The 660 has a higher memory clock, with a slightly lower core.No real deal breakers, but 750ti has no option for SLI.The 660 is Directx12 ready as well.
60 fps is no problem with the GTX660,I tested both of mine and my wife's individually.

It is? Nice.
Haven't been keeping up, been satisfied with my powerful setup for a long while.
Re: OP I would look at reputable benchmarks for Frostbite games, BF3 and BF4. DA will likely not be as CPU intensive but those test rigs tend to have sufficient CPU horsepower to try and circumvent any bottleneck showing up, so the fps reported should be achievable in DA.
Nvidia definitely have the upper hand, but AMD market wise is doing well and will probably survive, with both next gen consoles, so don't forget that next gen games are still limited by them. Mantle may or may not make a difference as well
Hopefully the MP won't be limited to 60 fps like ME3 was

the GTX660 is about 20% faster than the GTX750ti. take a look at AMD´s R9 270X, i dont know how expensive this card is in your country, but it is another 20% faster than the 660, or try to get a HD7870, its basically the same card as the 270X and usually you can overclock them very well. the 660ti is a bit faster than the 270X, but its more expensive.
btw, its not true that Nvidia is better than AMD; its more a question of personal preferences i think, but Nvidia usually is more expensive than AMD.
almost forgotten to ask: what CPU do you have?

Hell I still use a gtx460 and it's more than good enough for games like me3 at the moment.

Get the $250 AMD Radeon R9 285, it is releasing on September 2nd. Nvidia equivalent of this card are over $300.

It's more a question of the price point you're talking about, because it varies from price to price.
Historically, technical dominance has swung between the two like a pendulum, and quite regularly.
The one aspect where nVidia have always held the edge is in long term driver support and being faster with updates.

oh gawd, updating drivers with ATI/AMD has been a nightmare. If Nvidia has stable driver releases that alone settles it for me

forgive the dumb question, but what is SLI?
SLI is when you run 2 NVidia cards in parallel ... it's called Crossfire with AMD/ATI cards.
GTX 760 should be just about in your price bracket I'd guess - that's a decent all-rounder of a card; I've got one and I've never had any problems (even throwing Rome 2 at it).
NVidia have always had better drivers IMO - even since the AMD buyout but for raw performance, yeah, it alternates between the manufacturers, sometimes Radeons get better benchmarks at some stuff and NVidia cards on other benchmarks. If you really want to get into the details it's probably worth checking out Tom's Hardware or similar.

imo you wouldnt make any mistakes buying this card, but if you do, dont buy a reference design card, they have a terrible cooling (instead, buy ASUS or Sapphire).
if you want a nvidia, i would wait until the new GTX9XX are released (soon), prices of the 7XX should drop after it.

i doubt that he would have any benefits from the R9 285 over the R9 270X in combination with this CPU.
I have a nvidia gtx660ti and it's been great to me regardless of what I throw at it.
i have the same card, memory interface i a bit small (only 192 bit -.-), but it is really a good graphics card if you play in FHD and dont need the highest settings everywhere.
@ N7_SP3CTR3: why SLi with mid-range cards like the 660?

forgive the dumb question, but what is SLI?
Scalable Link Interface(SLI) is when you connect 2 cards together via sli cable.Once the video drivers are configured, they force alternate frame rendering, resulting in higher FPS,lower temps and noise, and better performance all around.

You can get more out of them than you would think.

this picture is useless for me, only benchmark i´ve ever had on my pc was/is unigine valley.*snip*
maybe, but the memory bandwidth remains crappy "thanks" to the 192bit interface, and the 660 has only the GK106. just wondering, if i would go for SLI, i would´ve used at least the GTX670 or higher (or newer equivalents). You can get more out of them than you would think.
btw, out of curiosity, what is the highest gpu clock you can get out of your 660?

I have seen them hit 1250,but here's a quick benchmark screen, and yes they are slightly overclocked.
