I have seen them hit 1250,but here's a quick benchmark screen, and yes they are slightly overclocked.

1250 is nice. i assume 110% is the highest possible PT? btw no memory oc?

Edong thread.

with 2 years old midrange cards, of course^^

When it turns into a challenge about comparing each other's numbers, yeah, it's there.

I've only set the target clock to 110%.The rest are minor tweeks to voltage and memory, nothing earth shattering for sure.I found a good balance with them, and don't have to worry about a potential RMA. ;)

I've got an embedded gt525m in my old Dell laptop, but I've clocked it up to gt540m speeds, it's pretty sweet. It only overheats and reboots if I get it up over 90°C. Got a second-gen i5 and everything, I can get up to 45fps as long as there's no map hazard and not too many blue booms.

also an important note:
my current power supply is 400w

which is well over what the Geforce 750Ti needs

but both the 660 and the 760 both need 450w

so I'd need to upgrade my power supply before buying those =(
(or does being 50 watts under really matter?)

Depends what power supply - if you get a good one like Corsair/Seasonic then they can push over the rated output. In any case I'd play it safe and upgrade the power supply first - a decent one up to 500W should be affordable (<£40) - then try and find a second hand 660 or similar card at a good price if you can.

newegg.com has 500w power supplies for about 30 bucks, but I'd I'm spending almost 200 dollars already that makes things extremely difficult for me

basically I'd be paying 140 dollars for the 750Ti
210+ for the 660*
and 230+ for the 760*

*including the power supply

so i'd have to know for certain that the 660 or 760 was a significant boost over the 750ti

basically if I can get 60+ FPS on this game and most other games 2+ years old I'm happy

running new games at full or medicum visuals would be nice but not needed

My gtx460 runs ME3 at 60fps at 1680x1050, so I'd hazard a guess that anything 660 or above will be fine, depending on what resolution you're running at - of course don't take my word for it, look up some reviews and get opinions from people who own those or similar cards. :)

A solid power supply is always worth the money - arguably the most important part of your machine. If for any reason you are not confident in the ability of your current power supply to handle the higher power draw of a new graphics card then do upgrade. But don't just get any old 500W - it's worth getting a good name brand/manufacturer and decent efficiency.

Honestly with the graphics cards - you've got so much choice from both red and green team with anything from the last couple of years, so you should be able to squeeze the budget on that and put some aside for the power supply.

no they don´t. GTX660 needs 140W maximum, GTX760 170W maximum. if you have a good PSU, you don´t need to upgrade.

sounds too cheap.

660 is ~20%, 760 ~45% faster than 750ti. 750ti is ~10% faster than the 560ti, which is ~30% faster than 460.
i had a 560ti a year ago, it ran Crysis3 on high settings, FHD, 1xSMAA with 30 - 40fps, so if you reduce details, you´ll get 60fps with the 750ti almost everywhere. i think you don´t need a new PSU for a 660 or 760 (if it´s a good one). your decision, if you want higher settings, buy the 760, if not, buy the 750ti. if you can get a 660ti for less cash than the 760, you wouldn´t make a mistake buying this card.

important: if you buy a 660(ti) or 760, don´t buy a reference design card, they get rather loud and hot; the refdesign of the 750ti is good, quiet and cool.

I do agree that getting a good power supply is a good idea and I will get one and a top of the line card with in the next two years, but while i'm on a budget I just need something to get me by till then

Get an R9 280 for $220 or so. It's a much much better card than the 750ti you are looking at.

I'm not sure about your case size, but your also need to take note that these cards are around 9.5" or so long and won't fit some cases, especially if the power plug is on the rear of the card.

this is a non-issue, could easily fit a 12 inch card inside =)

take a look at the column above, it says "Maximum Graphics Card Power (W) : 140".  the GTX660 wont consume more energy than this 140W -> a good 400W PSU is enough. trust me.

I do agree that getting a good power supply is a good idea and I will get one and a top of the line card with in the next two years, but while i'm on a budget I just need something to get me by till then

you still didn´t told us the brand/model of your PSU. if it´s any noname crap, you should remove it and buy a 750ti and a good PSU, but in this case at least with 500W, so you can upgrade your graphic card later without getting problems. if it´s not crap, keep it for now and buy a 660(ti).

what i´ve heard is: bad quality, bad efficiency (data sheet says 68% at 100% load ), OEM crap.
i don´t have own experiences with this brand, but i wouldn´t recommend them due to what i´ve heard about them. the power output on the 12V rails of your PSU also seems a bit low to me, but i don´t know so much about PSUs tbh.
btw technically you cant run a 660ti or 760 with this PSU, both cards need 2 6pin connectors.

At that price range I can only recommend Radeon R9 285 or Geforce GTX 760. Cards below them are a waste of money and you are better off getting a PS4.

Since Radeon R9 285 is faster than Geforce GTX 760, I would recommend getting the Radeon R9 285.
