You needn't worry too much OP it's averaging a 3.9 on Metacritic atm. I just had a few cracks at the Multiplayer as well it's got nothing on ME3.

Didn't get a chance to try the beta....was out of town.
I was kind of hoping that the mp for it would be like the flash point missions from SWTOR...which seems like a more apt comparison than to Mass Effect.
But I wouldn't expect Destiny to be at all like ME.....oor take away from ME....since they are totally different types of games. Don't understand the need to compare the two.....other than the Sci Fi aspect.....what's similar?

Some of the moves are similar there's power drain which works like lift and the warlock melee is similar to a weak throw.

So are Jedi powers.
Similarities will happen with power stuff....hard to deviate from....Lift this, throw that, shield up....any game that allows these powers cant really separate and make it unique besides in name and little of what it gets used on. Magic/Force/Super powers and such, hard to make a brand new unique power after many years of such said stuff out there.

Agreed but the warlock melee and power drain moves look exactly the same as biotic melee and lift and tbf ME was hardly the first game to come up with shields and barriers. The comparisons will always be made but I doubt this is going to steal ME players hearts.

Destiny- you explore 4 planets.
Mass Effect- the galaxy.

While Mass Effect should always be first a foremost a single player RPG experience Destiny's co-operative multiplayer is so woefully painfully-average it's got me really excited for the future of Mass Effect's online potential if this is the best even fricken Bungie can come up with...
IMO with a bit of money behind them and should they bring in those with relevant experience to take thing further I genuinely believe BioWare are sitting on a goldmine: a separate online studio could really clean house on consoles and make Mass Effect the king of the persistent world social cooperative multiplayer experience in a sci-fi setting as there is clearly a demand there and what Destiny lacks Mass Effect has in spades:
1) Distinct classes/races/powers with genuinely unique player build potential / progression systems
2) Much more interesting potential for unique loot items
3) Unique weapons and powers which all look, sound and feel distinctly different leading to far greater gameplay differentiation, e.g. N7 Shadow, etc.
4) Fully realized setting with tons more potential for unique factions and locations from which to create more unique maps, enemies and game modes
5) Game mechanics which genuinely incentivise effective team working besides shoot at the thing together, e.g. combos, supply pylon, bio sphere, warp/cryo debuffing, recon mine, etc.
6) Convincing cohesive in universe explanation for it's powers/technology gameplay systems, plot and factions
7) Smarter AI with greater enemy differentiation within and between factions which encourage radically different tactics
8) Biotic and tech combos more effectively bridge the experience/gear gap for newcomers - the fact that you can play gold and platinum without firing a gun and still lead the scoreboard speaks volumes
9) A distinct single player campaign with memorable characters/plot. Destiny was so bad in this regard even Peter Dinklage struggled to improve the overall production value
BioWare have all of this as a starting point. If Bioware merely take the existing mechanics and add new game modes, more maps and some substantial changes to the store/micropayments system it's hard to see where they could go wrong.

I was just thinking the same thing actually "If bioware had done this..." kinda makes me wish I had a crystal ball so I could see what they're planning.

As much as I'm a bit jaded about ME, Destiny has next to no story. It's basically an MMO shooter, that expects you and other players to make up your own stories. You can't compare that to a Bioware game. You can't even compare it to Bungie's own Halo series. At least it had a damn story.

There really is a lot of disappointment out there right now about destiny even on bungie forums. One major reviewer was saying he doubted it would survive to the first DLC instalment but he'd tough it out before giving his final judgement.

I'm have a blast playing it. Though the story is utter trash and arguably nonexistent. The voice acting is so forced and over dramatic it's actually somewhat of a joke with my friends. I'm just waiting for a Hayden Christensen cameo.

I'm having plenty of fun so far, but BioWare wouldn't have to do much to totally trounce this game in every respect in its own multiplayer in the new game. ME3 already has a greater level of variety with the different classes, specializations for different races and a wide assortment of weapons; all they really have to do is open up the universe for co-op. I will say that Destiny has a pretty lovely backdrop overall, but it's actually kind of small, considering what Bungie seems to be going for.
I just hope that that wretched random crap store disappears from the new ME game. There must be other ways to rope players in for the long haul without an aggravating roulette. Heck I wouldn't mind relying more on having to actually find loot in the maps on missions.

I'm all for looting in an ME3 co-op world. So long as it's more refined than destiny is atm i'm kind of lucky my brother is staying with me so I get to play it for free I would've puked if i'd paid for it but it's ok to blow away a few extra minutes.

Destiny has been a bit of a time sink at times, because I tend to lose track of time just meandering about and shooting things, and I do kind of have fun sniping enemies while other players try to defeat them themselves. I very much prefer to go solo, which will be a problem as time goes on. Thankfully I have a friend who plays this game solidly as well who can help with the mandatory fire team missions.
This is one thing I hope BioWare always allows: constant solo. I want to be able to complete anything and everything by myself, even in multiplayer.

That's the thing I actually like about it I can enjoy myself going solo, preferring the patrol missions myself it got a bit dull protecting the ghost over and over. The events are pretty good seeing everyone on the map suddenly swarm in after a target is amusing.

I like how the Devil Walker can appear in certain places at random with just you on the map. Took me almost half an hour to whittle that damn thing down with my low level scout and sniper rifles by my lonesome. Kinda felt heroic though XD
In any case, I'm rather disappointed in Destiny's character "creator". It's more like a slightly more detailed list of presets, but it's just presets all the same. I'd love for ME's next game to have a full-on CC for the multiplayer character and the ability to swap out different types of armor.
If I was to have any element of Destiny translate to Mass Effect's multiplayer, it would be the actual inclusion of the MP character in the game's universe, rather than just being an arena pawn like ME3. It's nice to be able to go to the hub, get your gear and whatever else then hit orbit and find something else to do. I think that BioWare could probably avoid making it feel like an MMO (players everywhere doing random crap with names over their heads) by simply having the ability to have people join once you are setting up a mission, while the MP character exists by itself around the nameless NPC's populating the game universe.

I find the game enough fun and I'm looking forward to what Bungie adds, hopefully some more meaningful story content, but I can play it alone or with friends which is always nice
and now I just need to wait for the competitive MP to be balanced

I'm reluctant to bother with the competitive stuff. Typically I'm not a fan of PvP at all. The one and only reason I'd care to bother is because of the gear you can get with the marks you get from joining the Crucible.
I'm very curious about how BioWare would implement something like this, assuming they're interested in the idea at all. I have a feeling they're more keen on co-op, and I hope that they put more emphasis on that than the former.

Don't even bother for now, its hilariously broken
I could see BioWare looking into something like the patrol missions if the next game has a more open MP aspect

I think they'd be better off going with a more open map for multiplayer. As fun as ME3's MP is, I find that the maps themselves are a bit dissatisfying and feel way too artificial. Considering that it will likely be a next gen-only game, I can't imagine why they'd not take full advantage of the ability to have vast terrain for cooperative play.
This makes me wonder what Inquisition's multiplayer will really feel like.

I definitely agree about the ME3 maps, also little to no way for the map to change like other games, destructible buildings, vehicles, same rotation of objectives. That said, based on what I've of "Next-Gen" so far, I' terribly optimistic.
A waste of time and resources most likely, but I was skeptical going into ME3 MP and ended up enjoying it more than I though I would

Definitely dodge the multiplayer for the moment full teams of level 18-20+ with better weapons fully upgraded nades and powers and full cool downs on supers. They are running rampant over everything. I spawned in to a 2 vs 6 match yesterday it didn't go well.
Potential for ME to have some BF3 styled maps raiding bases taking enemy positions etc. They can keep the horde mode as well but some expansion would be great.
