I have this same problem OP.

DA2 is fine. But DAO only has my first character uploaded that shows level 1. None of my other characters uploaded. I realized I didn't have the box checked to upload data. But now I can't log in to EA servers from the game anyway for some reason. :/

Where did you find the upload data stuff? I don't see it. I only see like 4 of my Hawke's and none of my Wardens.

In the DAO main menu go to options, and there are five tabs. Game, Control, Audio, Video, and Online. Go to the Online tab, and on that page under profile there is a box that says "Upload character profile". Make sure the box is ticked.

It's kinda funny to me at least that some of the "I HATE EA/BIOWARE/INTERNET SPIES!" tin foil rocking scrubs that opted out way back may miss out this time around. They ain't missing much from what I gather about how the keep works, but I still gotta laugh.

Firstly, ensure the issue isn't on your end

  • Make sure you are signed in and connected to the servers when you play the game with the same account as the one you are using for this site.
  • Make sure you have have the 'upload character' box ticked under 'Options > Online' in the DAO main menu.
  • Make sure you create a new save whilst logged in.
  • Make sure you have visited your character page to help prioritise the sync.
  • Make sure you wait a few minutes to a few hours and then check your character page again.

If you have done all of the above and are still having issues, then you are probably experiencing a well-know problem which a fair number of DAO (seems common for Ultimate Edition) PC players seem to be having, including myself.
Symptoms include:

  • On your character page, your achievements have successfully updated, but...
  • Your characters are displaying as 0.
  • You can't upload screenshots.
  • You go to 'Profile Diagnostics' on your character page and see "Error Code 1000 - No characters were found in your online storage."
  • You go to 'My Games > Player Profiles' and see "Dragon Age Origins - PC (sync my profile)"
  • You try to view your online profile via the in game menu and see "The requested player does not have any Dragon Age data uploaded."

Supposedly, this is an issue where you have installed/played DA2 before you had installed/played DAO, and your DA2 'Persona' is too long to work for DAO. I have, however, seen some people state that they are having this issue without ever owning DA2, so there may be another cause.
As of now it seems that the only fix is to have a member of EA tech support change your Persona, but this can potentially have unexpected consequences. Otherwise, there is little else to do for it.

Edit:
There is also the possibility that the issue may be caused by having the developer console enabled (if you have never enabled the console for DAO, disregard this).
There are four main ways in which the console can be enabled:

  1. By adding "-enabledeveloperconsole" to the 'Target' section under the 'Properties' of the game's desktop shortcut.
  2. By adding "-enabledeveloperconsole" to a line of code in the DAOriginsLauncher.xml file.
  3. By adding "-enabledeveloperconsole" to the 'Command Line Arguments' under 'Game Properties' in the Origin Client.
  4. By adding "-enabledeveloperconsole" to the 'Set Launch Options' under 'Properties' in the Steam Client (only works for standard edition, not Ultimate Edition).

Whichever method you used, you will need to undo it (generally by deleting the "-enabledeveloperconsole" line) to disable the console.
You can check if you have the console enabled/disabled by:

  • Firstly ascertaining the key to open the console. Find your 'KeyBindings.ini' (in My Documents) and find the line "OpenConsole_0". Next to it should be the name of the key that will open the console ingame.
  • Launch the game and press said key. Then press the W, A, S, D and Esc keys. If your character remains still and nothing happens, you have the console enabled. If your character starts moving and the menu opens, you have the console disabled.

For more detailed instructions, see this link: http://dragonage.wik...nsole_(Origins)
Once you have disabled the console, repeat the steps at the top of this post once more, and see if the problem is fixed.

I do hope we can get this issue fixed at some point. The DA Keep and importing aside, my Hawkes' data is synching successfully and I would like the same for my Wardens'.

It seems another potential cause could be having the developer console enabled ingame (for PC).
If you've ever enabled the console in DAO, you could try disabling and seeing if that helps.

Never did the developer console.

I guess it's not the end of the world if they give me the ability to customize my warden. I can go through all the choices like I intended to anyway lol. This semi import thing was new to me

Fantastic rundown of the current issues XMissWooX. I'm sure this will be useful for a lot of people.  :)

Same here. I wasn't aware that decisions and appearance didn't import anyway, so I'm not too worried now if I can't get my Origins character to import. My DA2 characters show up fine, so I will just import those.

Edit: I just read that the keep DOES import your appearance. Doh! I wonder if you can recreate it without the import data?  :(

Disabling the developer console worked for me !

Otherwise you can always try recreating your wardens in the standalone character creator and uploading them from there. I'm not sure if it'll work for the Keep though because the character creator doesn't upload story xml files.

True, but that is ONLY if you imported a character to the Keep. If you did, then the game would recognize that your Warden/Hawke may look different from the default so you will be given the option to recreate them.

HOWEVER, if you did not import then the game would assume you did not play DAO or DA2 and would not allow you to recreate them. Thus you will be stuck with the default Wardens and default Hawke.

This is where my complaint comes in. We should be able to recreate them regardless if they were imported or not. I cannot import my first Warden from 2009 cause his profile is not showing up. I cant load that game up either cause I long since deleted that save file from my 360 back in 2012 to make room for ME3 DLC. I deleted my DA2 save from my 360 as well and yet that character shows up.

Now if my Dalish Elf Warden shows up in DAI or any future DA title, it will be some default looking one....

No. There is an option within the Keep to choose whether or not your Hawkes and Wardens have their respective default looks, as far as I've heard from Keep-discussions. This will then likely enable you to change your previous PCs' appearance within the game itself.

I'm sorry to say this, but you're finding issues where there are none. I too have problems with both Origins and DA2 not properly uploading my characters, but from what the devs have been saying I'm not worried in the slightest.

The DAO/DA2 import is a largely irrelevant time saver that does very little.

As I understand it, it does not shape your past characters' appearance in DAI.

I think it will come into its own as a mechanic for uploading DAI for the future.

Thanks for this, I'm an Ultimate edition PC user with achievements but no characters..of which there a few whom I'm very precious about, this has me worried too. I was going to spend tonight trying to fix things, I've seen talk of the developer console being enabled causing problems so this was going to be my first test...we'll see.

The "appearance" import is just the headshot that appears in the Char's profile. It will have no impact in game. The most that could be used for is a static photo or appear on screen to remind you what the char looks like while trying to recreate the char.

That's how I understood it.

A small avatar to remind you which warden you are basing your world state on.

Not that you have to import anything at all.

I have to admit it would be hilarious if they used the image for the warden's face though. It would be like Mickey Mouse.....only with the entire head instead of just the ears. Look at him from behind and he still will be staring at you with the same dead eyes. :P

So I was checking to see if the problem was maybe I had the console enabled as explained above & saw this posted on the wiki:

Online Profile Issues:

"It has been observed (after version 1.0.2) that enabling the console may interfere with the BioWare Social Profile updater. If you notice your online profile is no longer updating properly, disable the console and run the game again.

If you're using Windows 7, type services.msc into the search box and open that program. Scroll down until you find "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater" and right-click it. Select "Properties" and then check to see if the service is running or not. If it isn't, hit the Start button. Also, if needed, change the startup type to "Automatic" as well. Then hit apply, ok, and then exit. Now run the game and login to your account. Your DLC should work now."

My service wasn't running, but when I hit start, I get "Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified." I can't find DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe anywhere on my pc :/

I don't think there's a way to accidentally enable the console, so if you don't remember enabling the console it's because you probably didn't do it. To disable it you have to go to the shortcut of the daorigins.exe file, and in the properties delete -enabledeveloperconsole from the target field. It should look something like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\bin_ship\daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

If you don't have -enabledeveloperconsole at the end it means the console isn't enabled.

Unless you're running on Steam, in which case you have to edit an xml file.

Edit: I just started my service via the DA content updater, lets see what happens..

So I managed to get my Hawkes uploaded which wasn't my aim, but oh well.  Console is enabled on DA2 also so... I know it has no bearing on the game itself but the keep will feel kind of incomplete to me without custom Warden profile pics, silly right?

Actually you don't, there's an option in Steam to put modifiers to the command line like -enabledeveloperconsole, which works fine. Forget the exact name of the tool, but it's in the preferences.
