These lists should be called "Here are 100 games one of our writers likes" because these are not the top 100 in history.

 

Mass Effect 3, 8th best game in history...

 

Mass Effect 2, best game in all of history... there is literally no game in existence better than Mass Effect 2...

 

I really liked ME2, but even I wouldn't put it above ME 1 or if I was making a top 100 of all time list would it even break the top 80, if that.  Because when you claim these are the best games ever you need to not have 95% of your list games that came out in the last 5 years.  That is just lazy.

 

Also no Chrono Trigger at all but we have DOTA 2... this list is just wrong.

Thought I read "top 100 PC games" and nothing more. Seeing "top 100 PC games in history" makes the list an even bigger fail. It misses out a lot but lists like these are always very bias and objective. I agree that the list should be called, "Here are 100 games one of our writers likes."

Normally I don't rag on lists cuz dis stuff is subjective and all, no point in going all "ZOMG U GOT THAT WRONG  "... no list will ever be "right" because there is no such thing.
 
But... Fifa 13... a Fifa game over so many classics, srsly?!?!?!

Hmm, they managed to get Dark Souls, X-COM, Mass Effect 2, and Half-Life 2 all in the top 10? I suppose that's something, though as I played the first three I listed on console, I can't vouch for their PC value.

Final Fantasy VII, a console port, is on the list but not Final Fantasy XI which is a much more relevant FF game to the PC

 

Mass Effect is absent, but ME2 and 3 are #1 and #8 respectively (why do people like ME2 so much?)

I gave Dark Souls an honest try, but I didn't have enough ibuprofen to deal with the controls for any longer than 2-3 minutes. They were just abysmal.

I've heard this many times. For those without an Xbox/PS3 controller:

I personally suggest putting the "action" inputs on the numpad instead: 6 for attack, 4 for block, and 2 for running. As long as you lock-on to enemies, it removes the necessity for a mouse, outside of looking around Out-Of-Combat. The first time I beat Dark Souls was with a keyboard. I understand where people are coming from with the complaints, but there are workarounds. Even without Lock-On, moving around isn't particularly complicated.

As far as bad PC port... there are some seriously powerful mods/patches for PC gamers. If mods make it sound unworthy...

...raise your hand if you've played Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines without the wesp patch. And if you're raising it, would you still put it on the top of your PC list without the patch?

It's a very good point. I think there was a petition to get it on PC, instead of chosen directly from the devs?

As far as the list... I liked the 'Best Games of History' version better Had more that fit my list on there than here.

No one yet mentioned Civilization IV is better than Civilization V? Good. That malfunctioned spamming unit game and the dogmatic fans who want to win by numbers not by strategy and tactics. Sorry I have to do this every time!

 

Wrongdoings on the list:

- two of the worst total war games

- very high place for ME2, Portal 1, BS: Infinite

- Walking dead instead of Borderlands?

- Fallout:NV in lower place than FO3

- No Prince of Persia, Age of Empires, Call of Duty (WW2 era), Heroes of M&M, KOTOR, and many others.

Yeah, I remember those stories. It's a damn shame though that it had to reach that point. I heard the Dark Souls II port was much better, but the Devs' weak efforts means that alot of players missed out on what was (in my opinion) a much superior experience.

He might get on his soap box too often, but hes always consumer orientated. Something the gaming media isn't. Not to mention he's not advocating for all the social justice bullcrap that the gaming media is harping on about.

You should check out #gamergate people have long been sick of them, and the recent scandal is perhaps the tipping point.
