I have tried this arcane warrior thing but without any warrior skills or specialisations or anything it is only a question of point and stab. Point and stab. Bleh boring. Any kickass a/w's out there who can do a make over from bleh to wow!!

I've used that on all the harder modes.  It has three build types: pure caster, mixed caster/melee, and pure mage-paladin melee

AW offers armor and more importantly for the sake of sanity and good taste, helms. It also has includes some dent abilities, so one does not to go S&S as a primary form. Personally, I prefer using a staff in the primary position, and spell-slinging my way to the end game. The S&S is used for added armor occasionally, as well as possible both Mana and Health Regen boosts.

I use it just so I can wear certain armour that I otherwise could not. I like using the upgraded Dailsh Armour on my elf mages and the Helm of Honnleath.
