Not very.  I really did not enjoy DA2 or ME3 so feel a little 'burnt'.  I loved DA:O so will keep tabs and see what it seems like after it's released.  No 'bonus DLC' or costume gimmick will convince me to preorder or buy at release.

-1 ?

I check the forums from time to time, but unless they severely tone down the female walk animations from what has been shown in the demos - or provide a more gender neutral option - I can't see myself playing it.  Mods are a non-starter for me, as I prefer playing on a console.

I'm really sad to see this, considering everything else in the game that's progressive and does so much to encourage and further the inclusion of minorities, that this one thing will cause them to lose revenue that would encourage others to follow in their steps.  But alas, the female walk animation is just too much it seems for some.  Especially disappointing to hear as 98% of the game is played in a dead run.  Really with all the other progress the game represents, this one thing is definitely worth taking a stand on.  The bastards, how dare they make this one mistake amongst all the good they have done.  You stick to your guns, because this really is the worst possible thing, let's not support the companies that are actually trying to make a difference.

Sorry, but playing a character with hypersexualized animations just isn't something I can bring myself to do.

This isn't new - there were quite a few complaints about the female animations in DA2, and a whole new set for DAI that they have chosen to ignore.

It isn't just the Inquisitor, either.  There are shots of other female characters wiggling their hips and asses in other promotional materials.  What I see is that, in spite of any other progressive things they are doing, they still seem to feel the need to sexualize female characters in this way - a very basic, ubiquitous way since they provide only 1 set of animations for all female characters.

It is entirely possible that those wiggly hips will net purchases from people who find it attractive and would not otherwise purchase the game.  Extremes are always a risky proposition, and unless / until I see something different, it looks to me like they've made their choice.

And I still say they are trying more than others are, and if you want those changes to happen, for games to continue progressing towards what you want, you need to encourage the steps in between.  All or nothing just nets you with nothing.  Is why vegans and vegetarians can never harm the meat industry, they do nothing to encourage those who try to change how they run things by refusing to be a customer no matter what in the first place.

I get it, you hate the walk, and that the request to change it was ignored.  You can't get everything, and ignoring all that you do get, being too demanding and picky only discourages anyone from even trying to do anything different to help and change anything.  Why help anyone if it's not appreciated?  Bioware is one of the few companies truly putting themselves out there and taking the risk for the better of others.  All this stand is doing is shooting the overall goal in the foot.  You're making a mountain out of a mole hill, and hurting one of the few companies in our corner and willing to take risks to fight the status quot.

Bioware is one of the few pushing for change.  Not supporting them, discourages others from making the same efforts, because it demonstrates a market that's too picky and fickle to try and market to.

If there were lots of companies doing this, if this were not rare, then sure, but that's not the situation.  There are too few companies and games supporting such things to be making such stands right now.  You're making your stand against one of our few allies.  It's a bad move.

When origins came out I bought the collectors edition in computer and playstation form, and two copies of the regular play station edition, one each for two of my friends.  If I could do that with this game I would as well, am instead scrimping and saving to maybe be able to afford the regular edition, and even though there's lots I don't like in it, I'm still supporting it for all it represents and know that I'll still enjoy it despite those things I'm missing.

Compared to what? If a ten is compared to a billion pounds, then not that much. :P

I'll probably buy it when it comes out based on what I've seen to date and subject to it looking good in the Lets Plays when they come around.

But it's not like I'd be super upset or anything if it got cancelled or turned out to be awful. It'd be a little disappointing but I'd just go do something else with my time/money.

@ Puppy Love - you're entitled to your opinion and choices.  I'm entitled to mine.

That walk animation is not a molehill, but an intentional ubiquitous sexualization of female characters.  I can't stand watching it, and will not play a character that walks like that.  Full stop.

They have had every opportunity to:

1) Not do it in the first place

2) Pay attention to the complaints about the Hawke strut in DA2

3) Acknowledge the complaints about the Inquisitor catwalk strut over the last few months

And as near as I can tell, they have elected to do none of the above.

I understand that a lot of people were very happy to see a female inquisitor featured in demos, yet I question whether that would ever have happened had the character been given a gender neutral gait.  None of the other things they might have done mean much to me if they are determined to sexualize the character regardless.

I know what you mean but to me its a little more toned down than hawke plus u can always run. As for other characters Id just pretend thats how they want to walk.

Hey,

I am sad to say that I am down to 6/10 (that's still the best for this years' games so far...all others are at 5/10 currently and that includes Assassin's Creed, Shadows of Mordor and a few others)

Their decisions about non regenerating health, no real healing spells, 8 ability slots only etc. are ruining it for me (I will probably still get it - as a benchmark for further purchases from Bioware/EAware...because they have betrayed my trust with DA2 and even worse with CrapEffect 3 (ME3) and are currently working on demolishing it even further, with making bad and retarded design-decisions and not addressing many issues that fans complain about since DAO reached the market!)

greetings LAX

wait so you hated DA2 and Mass Effect 3 and it seems you don'T like what you have seen of DA:I

why are you buying it again? just to complain ? wasting money for a game you obviously don't like and a Devleoper you hate and don't respect ("retarted design decisions") seems pretty dumb

jesus then don't buy it plenty of people like the animations
Bioware isn't a developer who sexualized female characters (most of the time at least) and you know that but still you overreact and won't buy the game because of freaking walk animations

ahh the internet never a dull place

News flash: I don't care what anyone else thinks about the choices I make for myself - but hey, if you think that being so dismissive of my feelings about something I find deeply offensive somehow makes you superior, knock yourselves out.

Yeah looking forward to it and have tried not to be spoilered or influenced by speculation on the characters or story.

I was sort of glad they delayed the release as I have some heavy work committments leading up to then (that will hopefully be complete by the time DA:I comes out!)

I suspect she's a tomboy or a feminist. I can't figure that one out.

Or neither. These just seem to make sense to me, specificly the tomboy thing.

I'd say 8/10.  It was a lot lower a while back, but I've enjoyed most of what I've seen regarding Inquisition.
