As for the Fade, apparently time doesn't work normal there. You can apparently travel to different points in the Fade's timeline, and can even travel closer to its creation.

 

Also, the Fade gets more chaotic the closer you get to the Black City, which is odd because I was under the impression that the Black City was always the same distance away.

I think it's mostly just that time isn't really a solid thing in the Fade, I don't think it's too likely that we'll be killing our grandfathers or marrying our grandmothers any time soon. But who knows?

 

Maybe we'll reach out from the Fade, talk to a young Andraste, and eventually discover that we are the Maker.

 

But I doubt that.

Well, as I said, I don't think that's even remotely likely.

But yes, the Black City seems like it's going to be important, and part of that seems like it might relate to us winding up physically in the Fade.

 

Maybe that's even how we're able to move closer to the city? Maybe it's only unapproachable to people who are merely mentally in the Fade?

I'm not sure... The Black City is said to be unmoored from time, so the time mechanics of the City could be even more fucked up than the rest of the Fade.

 

But I did have that thought that it might be possible. It would be hilarious if the Inquisitor ended up being the one to throw the Magisters out from the city.

 

And then we all became Fen'harel through time shenanigans at some later/prior date.

in the fade time doesnt travel in a linear fashion as we know it but does not allow large jumps. But with manipulation of rifts and the fade one is able to make educated leaps through time and arrive to its close destination. I wonder if there are ramificantions to use of chronomancy

I really don't know.

 

However, I've read plenty of fiction with time travel in it, and am generally aware of how fictional timetravel tends to work. That said, I don't think this game is going to be about timetravel, even if we might get to influence or see a few past events in the Fade.
