And how has he been doing this for year? he comes out calling for dumat for answers obviously showing he can't comprehend whats happening on his own. and again i doubt in 4ish years he set up the entire war just from inside a grey warden.

My guess would be either The Elder One is, or is pretending to be Dumat to keep him under his thumb.

Looks at mess...(sigh)

Haven't been able to get on and post in a few days.  Decided to come give things a look and discover that monkey needs to lay off the banana's.

On another note I also don't want the EO to be Cory.  I think Cory could be a puppet of the EO but I don't see him as the puppet master.

Perhaps the EO can't take physical form in our world(so long as the veil is still there) therefore until it comes down he has to use vessels to move around in our world.  I could maybe see something like that.

Regarding red lyrium, I think that it was a failed experiment by the residents of the Primeval Thaig.  One of the things you find there is a ring of vhenadahl - an elven ring for that tree they worship. Since elves and dwarve knew each other before humans landed I think it's safe to say that at the very least this was a dwarf-elven colaboration.

Just like the Dwarves of Amgarrak made a device that manipulated how far you can go in the fade then perhaps something similar happened in the Primeval Thaig? Basically, dwarves did X and elves provided magic. Whatever mechanism they tried to use, red lyrium was created in its wake and the Thaig was ultimately overrun by rock wraiths and forgotten, maybe sealed by survivors.

Oh so maybe the rock wraiths/forgotten are actually RL constructs that feed on the lyrium and then became something else

Good to be back!!

I like this idea that red lyrium is the by product of a failed expirement.  After all the Primeval Thaig is older than the darkspawn so it would make sense if it was also older than humans.  It might be the by product or it might even be what they were trying to create but it failed (or succeeded beyond what they thought would happen).  Doesn't really matter, it just matters that something went wrong and it was sealed away until Hawke and Co. found it.

After all they spent enough time with the stuff to create the idol so the red lyrium was something that they were handling/using before it all went bad.  This could also explain why it is spreading.  If it was created and then contained in the Thaig because it was too dangerous Hawke and Co. then let it out and now it is spreading because...well I don't know.  But reasons!!!

agreed. To me it says DA2s dlc is more important in the long run imo than originality

I hope not as well. Maybe as a servent of the Elder One I can understand.

After all Corypheus strongly hinted to be nothing more than a minion that "Dumat" called them to the Golden City only to become Corrupted into the first darkspawns. However, I believe it was something else that pretended to be Dumat that may have called them and that thing may be the Elder One

Or maybe the Golden City was never Golden to begin with and from the Beginning it was always the Black City....

oh the conspiracy theories I can think up over what Corypheus hints about back in legacy.

Wonder how far the Elder One goes in the the fields of cruelty. Call me a sick individual, but I wonder what sort of torture he may have in store. Fill your mind with horrific images, force the inquisitor to watch him torture their LI. I really want Bioware to give us a reason to despise this guy.

I've already told you the main conspiracy hypothesis I have with it being #2 of who the Elder Ones identity is.

If the Elder One truely behind the Magisters corruption, the Black City, and creation of the Blight then we're in deeper **** than the world knows about.

I've always had this thought that every single DA companion has an internal monologue of:

"DON'T TOUCH THAT!!

Why do you touch random things

MAKER, he/she did it again...

How can one person have SUCH BAD LUCK!!

Why...WHY  "

If the Elder One has been influencing things since before the fall of Arlathan, than we really are in some deep ****.

Let's look at the things he would have had at least an indirect hand in:

1. Humans learn blood magic

2. Destroy the elves

3. Enter the Golden City

4. Blight (Destroy the world)

5. Ferelden Civil War

6. Anders/Justice blows up the Chantry

7. Meredith goes Ape ****

* this is just the few I could think of*

If we go off the theory that the EO can 'whisper' into peoples dreams and amplify and suggest things (perhaps even "speak" with mages since they have a greater connection to the fade) then the EO could subtly influence things.  He doesn't directly cause things but instead slowly moves pieces to fit what he wants to happen.

If this is true than we would be dealing with a being who has been plotting for ages upon ages.  That kind of patience and cunning is crazy scary.  He has been watching the world, learning our weaknesses and how to manipulate us for a long time.  Meaning from the very start we are up **** creek without a paddle, so yeah crazy scary.

I wouldn't go as far back as you did. The best start place would be the Black City. Since Cory says it was like that when they arrived, I like to think the Black City was The Elder One's Prison, and the Taint the security measure which kept him in. When the Magisters took the taint into themselves when they arrived, it allowed the Elder One to Escape and since then been recovering. Then at the Start of the Dragon Age he began moving pieces.

Barindur, which was around when Tevinter was slowly expanding, disappeared. Was presumed that the city lost favor with Dumat.

Honetly, how can a city disappear like that

Perhaps Barindur was the first city to suffer a attack by the rifts which eventually engulfed the entire city. Sending Barindur into the Fade.

If true then a plot point in the game may be the Inquisitor getting pulled into a rift he is trying to close and wakes up in Barindur thus discovering more secrets of the Elder One and how long it has been plotting and manipulating events.
