Do they hate you, or are they justifiably suspicious that you may have set up the whole thing yourself so you would be seen as their savior?

Not like we don't have our own prophecies of people specially marked who will be seen as saviors...

Seeing as a few people saw you emerge from the Breach unharmed, some higher members think this means the the Breach was our doing in some way.  They also think that the Inquisitor being given the title "Herald of Andraste" (since people believe that they female being in the fade that saved you, the green glowing one from one of the trailers, is Andraste) by the common people extremely blasphemous, especially if you are not human.  You can denounce the role or embrace it, but they chantry will still have a large amount of contempt for the Inquisition.

In the demo, on of the advisors state one of their reasons for their hatred towards you is that they think the breach was your doing as one of the many reasons they detest the Inquisition, and the Inquisior specifically.

Oh, I'm sure that is part of it, but I also think there is an element of fear in their response.  Fear that as the Herald you will undermine the existing establishment.  If you are not a human this would be especially true from a story point as well if you were a mage.  I'm just saying that it would be an interesting plot point that some of their hate also comes from the fact that you threaten their power and that they don't control you.  For along time the people have looked to them for their eternal salvation now suddenly people begin to look to the herald.  This would be very frightening to them, expecially since they are already weakened by the loss of the Circles and Templers.

Meh... I'll play the way I usually play being performing actions that I think is right in my personal perspective.

So I'll probably go try to convince the Chantry that I'm not behind the events if I'm given the option to.

After all...

Interesting,  so the inquisition is not supported by the chantry at all. That's kinda good to hear that the inquisition is truly an independent organization and makes even more sense that we're recruiting from everywhere.

When I think of The Elder One is regards to what he may be like, for a point of reference, I like to use the Old gods from Warcraft. Say what you will of their writing, but I think they do a fine job with their versions of Old gods.

Personally, I've always preferred C'thun. They just managed to convey the feeling of an alien god-thing better with him.

Does the elder one want to be worshipped by people, because if we assume red lyrium and the taint is his doing then having mindless mutants probably won't work. Unless he plans on destroying the native inhabitants of Thedas and replace them with thier own.

I really don't think he wants to be worshiped. i think the venatori just happen to worship him.

I mean have we heard or seen anything like demons and venatori trying to forcibly convert anyone?

The "Bow before your new God and be spared." i think thats more something to demoralize you. its also a sound clip from a conversation we have no context for so I don't know.

Overall, I tend to feel the opposite may be true. He's arrogant. He wants people to recognize his awesomeness.

I think he'll very much want to be worshiped.

Well i should say I'm biased because i HOPE he doesn't want to. it would just get kinda old to me if every conversation is about I AM A GOD BOW TO ME blah blah. i would love it if he was this all powerful chaotic god who didn't care if you worshiped and more wanted to destroy organized religions.

As you can see i like Chaotic villains. i mean i love me my Arishok but i just want something new that unnerves me and stresses me out. i don't exactly want a relatable villain like Loghain or Meredith/Orsino

Agreed. Save the understandable Villains for the lesser badies. They can have the tragic back story which lead them to this path, or become poor misguided fools, but I want to HATE the Elder One. I want him to be totally evil. Someone that just needs to die no matter how against killing you are.

There can be masterfully written relatable villains. But i hope he is more like Sovereign when you first talk to him. hell i remember first speaking to him in ME1 at 9ish at night and how he unnerved me, before the Catalyst made them relatable villains.

Like wouldn't a gods mindset be so beyond our own because of the social upbringing of being a god? how can you relate to something like that? i can understand being able to relate to Gods who were first human or humans attempting to be gods.

Hell one of the reason i find Flemeth so interesting and mysterious is because i can't relate to her, her feelings are so obscure to my mindset that i cant understand her motives.

But thats why i hope he isn't just a creature who wants power. because that's a Human construct. so unless he is a regular old demon who took our emotions i don't see why he would want Thedasian things.

I think it's a pet.

And the Elder One has clearly marked you as a "Rival", even if you are an "Unknowing one".

So, let's define that term.

noun
1.
a person who is competing for the same object or goal as another, or who tries to equal or outdo another; competitor.
2. a person or thing that is in a position to dispute another's preeminence or superiority:

So, it seems like he doesn't just consider you his enemy, he considers you to be his competition, even if you don't know what you're competing over.
