Yeah maybe we will see it by accident or a splinter group of mage's who want to fight fire with fire.

what would they be known as red magi? Hmm if they are i wonder if they will be depower (house of m from xmen) or just super chaged

I'm guessing it would just be a side quest and not a real plot oriented quest, just something to get more power for the inquisition.

Yeah i just don't think it will flow with the plot it self, all i hope is it doesn't go all skyrim with how you joined either side, it didn't even feel like a war, just do side quest and run through a burning city with support (who barely follows you). I hope its just a bit more political.

Yeah i just hope we get more in depth alegiance with one or the other, i mean i'm guessing no matter what extremest of both factions will have to be dealt with, but Rhys and such, i would guess could give us aid if we support their movement.

I'm going to hazard a guess that red lyrium can't be used by mages.

Possibly, but we will see. But you might be right. Like red lyrium is anti-Lyrium, it effects Mundanes instead of Mages.

I mean people keep talking that it might be like Quarians and the Geth, but i doubt we would just work with one side and just be like ok im siding with the other guys.

All we can do is guess. so guess away, that's what me and monkey have been doing for like a week, and anyway its fun to air out different theories and bounce ideas around.

Though regular Lyrium effects "mundanes" too, Templars powers come from it. so maybe it would just give an overload to actual magic, to the point that its hazard for the user.

Thematically, I think red lyrium is the "one step too far" for templars, just as blood magic is for mages.

But we don't really know the effects on mages do we?  We know some kind of effect happens to those with no magical talent.  Didn't the sliver that was saved by Varrics brother contain some kind of rock demon or something?  Been too long since I last played so it's hard to remember.

idea its off topic a bit so bear with it
In resident evil theres a parasite called las plagas that was modified by wesker to selectivly bond with certain hosts genes; ororoborous. Now if we go by the idea of red lyrium having some sentience maybe it bonfs with some easier than most (merideth) others it mutates others into monsters(behemoths) and gaider said we can talk to some red templars so either they arent all gone or it bonded with them

oh created a apporition that could physically harm others. But kirkwall had issues so anything couldve happened and my idea could just spitballing

Did Varric even hold it?  Or did it just take hold of him because of proximity?  If he had held it regardless, it took hold of him very quickly.  Also why did know one else in the group become affected?

had it in his hand for a minute or a few but rember varric was born tops lacking the fable magical resistance so held out poorly bartrand was just a arse and it amplified his negative emotions odd since he had his resistance still to some effect since he was born in orza. Hawke had plot armor.

So if we think of it as some people have a resistance to it, that makes sense. like in re5 some would turn into monsters, others would turn into super soldiers.

I think that is a good comparison

Pfft!  I forgot about that.  Alot of DA2 characters had that elusive plot armor...Wish I had some for that Arishok fight.

I think in this game the Red Lyrium will be touchd on a bit vaguely, maybe to be seen again in another game.  There is too much potential for it to be settled so quickly as it would have to be with so much already going on.  At least that's what I am hoping.

majani... super soldiers my eye high pain threshold yes but lol.
OT: yeah it would explain how lyrium does what it does and adds concern for fighting the red templars

Too tired to continue much more today.  I would have to reread this thread to make sure I am not touching on what you may have already discussed.  But...we know Blue Lyrium exists as does Red but do we know that is all?  Could there be more?  Like say Black?
