Or it could be a red herring. Its not like Bioware hasn't done this in previous titles. All throughout ME (and promotional material) showed Saran as the big bad. In the end we learn about the Reapers...and that Saran was just a puppet. While we know Cory is an enemy we will face (we've known this since Legacy) we don't know that he is in fact the big bad or just a puppet. He could be, but until the game comes out and someone beats it we won't know for sure that he is in fact the big bad.
I'm just going throw out this theory:
It was implemented poorly in ME3. It was supposed to show Shepards inner most thoughts, but problem...every Shepard is different. Cause you know role playing game. Someone didn't think that through
But if the dreams were implemented in a way as to show threats from the EO and our inquisitor is being haunted by the enemy. This could work because how we respond as the player can still be left up to the player. It would make sense that you don't have control over the dreams your enemy sends you, but our reaction outside them can reflect how we play. It would cool if the clip from the Enemy of Thedas trailer with the duplicate Inquisitor was in fact a dream that the EO sends us.
I would actually love it if that scene was a nightmare, i didn't realize or think about the connections between the Fade, the Elder one and dreams before, but i never knew how much i wanted this, it would be aweosme.

That was more a message to this Forums regulars, we have discussed it in full and with all the evidence and leaks it seems to us its the truth of the EO but like Cardinally said, it can be a red herring.

Well if you look at the door in the trailer you can see it running with blood, and i think some of us just hope its a dream because we don't want some annoying clone story. ![]()

Personally I suspect that person is morethe Elder One's Second in Command, sorta like his herald.
Everyone knows that the Elder One is Blinky.

That's how I see him and potential Ishmael

I doubt imshael has anything to really do with the main plot of the game, he seems like a side quest like most of the Forbidden Ones have been. And he has no idea the breach was even coming, or of the Elder Ones plans. Felassan tells him that its coming. And Imshael isn't so much for causing chaos as giving people the choice to cause chaos. And the only reason he slaughtered the Dalish Clan was because it betrayed him.

There was once a theory that Imshael might have had something to do with the mass amount of Red Lyrium appearing to make the Red Templars

I mean i can see him giving someone that choice. but again he feeds off the chaos, and the choices people make in chaos. and thats how felassan got him to leave, because he told him of all the chaos and choices people will be making in the game.
So we are probably going to find Michel at some point and help him kill Imshael.

Which I think was speculated to be in Emprise du Lion which also appears to be the Red's main base

I don't know what emprise du lion has to do with Imshael or Michel, yes the red templars are there and its in the highlands of the dales which is very far from val chevin where Michel is at the end of the book.

I wish they'd milk this mistery for all it's worth so we could get Tobi levels of speculation and anxiety before the reveal.
perhaps the EO is the fade or thedas itselfIs that really what Felassan is referring to, though? Personally, I think whatever Felassan is involved in is the major conflict, and the Elder One is a distraction. Perhaps even the Breach is just a distraction. There have been quite a few hints that closing the Breach requires recruiting the mages or the templars, but we also know that the mage-templar conflict is resolved early.
Ditto for Corypheus. He's probably wreaking havoc on the Wardens and preventing them from assisting, but the years have not been kind to his sanity. He doesn't come off as capable of planning something big.
I think what the devs said a year or two ago is key. There's a lot of stuff occupying Thedas' attention all of a sudden. Mage-templar war, Orlesian civil war, rumblings of aggression from the Qunari, the Venatori cult in Tevinter, Corypheus among the Wardens, the awakening of the Eluvians, Imshael on the loose, and now the Breach.
I'm not convinced that any of those are the main threat. The main threat is causing all those things to occur so it can rise unopposed. But, we do need to solve all of those issues to muster enough forces to address the main threat.

I remember there being a dev comment that a character from The Masked Empire would be in that area, but I could be wrong

actually i remember that too now that you mention it.
I just found the quote, it just says it has a connection to the novel. i would suspect its where we first encounter a Eluvian since its full of ancient Elven Ruins. including a very large Elven Keep which we can take supposedly.
perhaps the EO is the fade or thedas itself
well you are in the the theory thread... so go wildIn DA:O, even though it was perfectly clear from the start of the game who the big bad was, the trailers focused on the (1) the dragon fight in the Ashes quest and (2) the calling, something that doesn't even happen within the game.
I think that the Venatori and their Elder One could be behind the Fade tears. But I think there might be something deeper going on than the tears or the Elder One.
