I hope we once again find ourselves interacting with the Spirit of Valor. As for the Elder One I look forward to being the thorn in his side.

What it seems like to me is you were in the heart of the explosion that opened up the breach so while everyone else burned into those weird ash like corpses you were thrown into the fade, and Andraste's spirit(Or who ever it is. it's quite up for debate) opens up a tear for you to go back into thedas with, but not before giving you the mark on your hand.
Totally valid seeming assessment there, hopefully theres no drawbacks to the Mark affecting long-term longevity of your life. Like how the taint affects the Hero of Ferelden. I want the possibility of seeing through this "great change" Flemeth and Morrigan warned about.

Well we don't know what the situation with the warden's longevity will be, considering whats his face blood magic in warden's keep and the architects experiments when we we're knocked out in awakening. and considering his magic to take away fiona's taint and so she could have a kid we don't know what the warden's life might be like.
and considering the Inquisitor i can't see how a spirits mark would mess with our lifespan, In fact we have seen people live longer because of it. Wynne, justice, etc.

And he destroys everything you love in revenge. You may defeat him, but he will take away your reason for trying to save the world out of pure spite.

Would magisters of old know shapeshifting? does anyone besides a few hedge mages or witch of the wilds know it?
its curious.
They might, but such "forbidden magic" was likely taught by an Old God, such as Dumat teaching the Magisters of Old how to use Blood Magic.

in honesty we don't know dumat taught blood magic,
there is one other legend saying the Forbidden Ones taught blood magic, and in some codex's it says they might have learned it from the elves.
But i would just think the hub of all magic in its golden age under the Old Gods would know magic that might be lost now.

So assuming Corypheus is the EO.
Was Eleni(the statue in the Circle of Magi) speaking of the Black city or the actual prison Corypheus was in.
And if that is the case what connection does it have with corypheus? yes the veil was torn all around her, but was that just her window to see corypheus?
Maybe cory was her master before the events that followed
here is the quote.
"The prison is breached. I see the encroaching darkness. The... the shadow will consume all..."

Well do we know what time period velarius was archon?
-395 was the starting of the blight.
-305 was the founding of the grey wardens.
-203 first blight ended
-170 andraste is killed.
at -170 Hellarian was archon and Velarius was an archon before him. so that means he was either a archon before the blight, or during.
the only other archon between the two is archon Venarious Issar who made Kirkwall the Capitol of the slave trade, but there is no time period (or none i can find) that says when it was.

Assuming the timing does match, perhaps Velarius had some ties to Corypheus?

That's what i'm thinking. i mean the way she was acting was so frighten, as if she was the victim of an attack but lived and then saw her killer on her street. It didn't seem like she was "What is that monster?" more like "The monster got out!"

If that is true, why didn't the Elder One finish her off?

She could have already been the statue. she could have just been a regular refugee running from the Darkspawn.
I mean we can assume those first Magisters were like the Darkspawn general since we know there are Alpha darkspawn which give commands.
I doubt they just showed up to dumat and were like "Ok we tainted ya, now we outie5000!"
Again this most likely isn't true but if the Magisters(Corypheus) had such a god complex don't you think they would walk straight up to the archon and show him the power they now command?

I'm guessing that Corypheus is the Elder One, and that other, green dragon, is the spirit of an Old God who hates Corypheus.

just thought i would point out, that in that new trailer i think we get a look at briala. it might not be her, but at the end there is a archer woman, and it can't be sera since Sera is in the party with the inquisitor at the time.

Corypheus didn't die, he went into Larius. So could indeed be the Elder One the ego alone makes it likely. I would also nominate Anora , I really can't stand that two faced sow.

Well its kinda obvious he went into either of those wardens, i'm just more curious who's body he is chilling in now.
Maybe that guy who we condemned to death and say "I will kill you by my hand... again."

It does feel odd to have a DLC character play a main role... but.. I think Corypheus' story is far from over considering how he said something like "we when reached the golden city, it was already black"
He was one of the first Magisters that the Chantry claims became the first Darkspawn. This is a huge plot point, I doubt we'll be disappointed. ![]()

I'm sure this has been mentioned... but I can't read all 147 pages. I'm starting to think the Elder One is actually Fenriel. The Dreamer from DA2. The tile in the Keep asking about his fate only cemented this idea.
It was said he could shape the Fade as he saw fit. This could also be why Hawke comes back. His decision on Fenriel could be the reason all of this happened. Even if he was made Tranquil, we learned in Asunder that Tranquility can be reversed, and Traquil mages can be possessed by demons.
