He can't be the Elder One because he's already in Thedas and was at the Conference before the Breach happened. He'd have literally no reason to cause the Breach unless to bring about something else, which the Venatori hasn't met yet. At least not in person.

I'm hoping anyway.

So just watched the Prologue gameplay. Pretty obvious who that silhouetted figure who had the Divine was...which only leads me to believe that Cory isn't The Elder One. They wouldn't make that obvious to those who played DA2.

It defiantly sounded like Cory is work towards some sort of goal and maybe even working for the EO (most likely to gain more power, I doubt Cory has learned his lesson about taken power from beings he can't see.  ).

Remember if an Archdemon isn't slain by a Grey Warden it transfers it's soul to the nearest Darkspawn and remakes the creature into an Archdemon. I imagine Corypheus can do the same. I doubt that he wants to possess a half dead ghoul of a Warden or be a woman.

You know what, I'll buy that too.  The old Magisters (and the new ones) seem to be all about gaining power, and what better way to get it than to hop on the coattails (or horrific tentacles) of the newest horrific god to threaten Thedas.

nope cory thousands years old body was damaged by blight and other nasty stuff and he is not a archdemon to transform himself in the same archdemon body after possesing a darkspawn...especially in the same damaged body with the same rusty clothes.

 

thats the problem...why he is the same as he was when we find him in prison..that no make sense after he is escape in new body..even if he is specially change it via blood magic he must not have the same ugly body stuff and old rusty clothes

Even though I always kept thinking that Cory wasn't the main antagonist but just a very important player to the EO, it now seems that he actually is the main antagonist.

 

Now to wonder, what is his endgame? Does he want to revive Dumat or something? Or perhaps become Dumat?

 

All in all, I'm not disappointed that it is him. He's quite the interesting character.

I think Cory is indeed Elder One. As for Cory plans this is my theory:

I think Cory is trying to get to the black city with newfound knowledge that he needs dragon blood to become god (Aurelian Titus tells in comics that old magisters failed because they didn't have dragon blood). As for how would he be god? Well there are clear hints that he is dreamer mage who can manipulate fade around him; he can basically construct "world" around him (As we learned from Feynriel missions in DA2). However to create his world and not just manipulate space in fade around him he needs to go to black city from where he can reshape entire fade (Black City is always present wherever you are in the fade remember?). However I doubt he would want to control just the Fade so he also uses the Breach to merge the Fade with Thedas, giving him power to recreate whole world. So I guess that WOULD make him god.
