That happened like two thousand years ago. What is said to have happened may be completely different from what actually happened. There is no trace left of Arlathan anywhere, not even in the Deep Roads (and this was before the First Blight). It could just as well been thrown into the Fade or another world.

Why would have it been in the Deep Roads though? Tevinter literally sunk the thing into the earth. It might be miles below ground, but it doesn't have to be in the Deep Roads.

And we have concept art in the plain world so i doubt we will be going into the golden city this game.

How can you tell the real world from... not the real world?

The thing is that we know, or rather are told, that the Arlathan Elves shut off the Eluvian network suddenly and without warning BEFORE their fall.

Is it me, or does that sound like a distinctly stupid thing to do?

Maybe they were trying to give the magisters the middle finger. And they call humans children!

I don't think it was an accident though. They seemed pretty willing to lock away the network, to possibly trap or imprison something in there.

but what is in there

Of course. But if not, it's either above the Deep Roads (in which case it's not really that deep and I wonder why neither humans nor dwarves have ever found any trace of it) or its below them, in which case it seems surprising dwarves didn't object to the magisters sinking a whole city through their kingdom.

I don't think it was stupid. I think they were absolutely scared to death. Scared enough of something to shut down the entire network without warning, without thought for those trapped in the catacombs.

It's entirely possible that it's in the Deep Roads and no one simply has the ability to access it or something. Or simply it's so deep that only darkspawn are found that deep.

The Oldest possibly first demon to ever exist...Or some horrific monstrosity so powerful and so terrible Either I'll guess Andraste or possibly the Arlathan Elves sealed off in the Black City. That's my hope anyway.

That makes sense. The Elder One (probably) wants the password for the Eluvians. Maybe to get out of there? That would mean his prison isn't completely breached.

I think that's just an ancient elven fortress, not Arlathan itself. Probably one of their fortresses within the Dales.

That may just be you. If the Elder One is such a major threat, and the Elves had somehow locked him away or tricked him into the network, then maybe the sacrifice of the Eluvian network was worth it.

Fenris mentions some Elven ruins, and we find some in the Brecillian Forest, so there are some traces of Arlathan left in the world. The city itself however is gone. But the thing is, that while burying a city under miles of rock and stone is a significant feat, it isn't beyond the scope of probability for the ancient Magisters. However, throwing an entire city physically into the Fade, seems highly implausible, when it almost drained the Imperium just sending in half a dozen Magisters.

The Fade is not supposed to be distinguishable from the real world all the time. Otherwise people wouldn't actually think it was real when dreaming. This was something that irked me in DAO.

Also, that may not be in the Fade, but pass the Eluvians.

The Dales have tropical plants? With that weather? I rather doubt it.

Well, where the hell is it then, if we are stuck in Orlais and Ferelden?

The concept art is literally called arlathans. and we see the elf in the EoT trailer bringing something out of the water in a jungle kinda like that one,

I thought you meant they did it during the war with Tevinter. My bad

Yeah, I meant the city itself. And again, it was a long time ago. They magisters may not have actually done it, or not on their own.

Also, we have a precedent for throwing an entire physical location into the Fade, with people still in it. It wasn't that hard.

I know what the verse says. But Arlathan was in a forest outside of Tevinter, nowhere near where DAI takes place. So, again, I'm saying that I don't think that this floating island thing is indeed Arlathan.

Possibly...aside from the whole robot thing...But know the moment I see a white ghost child I'm going to scream and devote my life to evil.

That's the interesting thing. It can't be in neither of those places. So we either go really far north (maybe using the Eluvians?) or that is not in Thedas at all.

Not quite. The Blackmarsh was only done in spirit, not physical body. The realm of the Baroness was patterned after its real world counterpart, but it wasn't the actual town that was taken to the Fade, just the souls of the people who tried to kill her.
