judging by his god complex its probably both. That can go back the theory he's a spirit that resents that maker due to abandonment(like a child develops with a absentee parent)

That's assuming the Maker is real.

I was under the impression that someone other than the Elder One said "You are a mistake." It didn't really sound like the voice throughout the rest of the trailer.

It sounded more like a man (who has Knowledge about something related to the Inquisitor or the Inquisition.) who had been beaten most likely by the Inquisitor and have some sort of last line before dying or being imprisoned.

The last note from the Band of Three mentions the Forgotten One, singular, and not the plural we usually see. It may be nothing, but the Elder One and this Forgotten One could be connected.

Ooh. I'd forgotten about that. I'm impressed that you picked up on that and, or, remembered it!

Ok here is a question, we know sky hold gets attacked during the game, but is it by some demon horde outside your walls? or red templars? i mean they have said many times that at some point during the game the eyes of this unknown evil fall on you. but who attacks you? because wouldn't the elder one just tear a veil within the walls?

If he is so powerful and can attack Skyhold any time he wishes, I'm assuming that the Inquisitor has some use to the Elder One during the game, thus he leaves us alone for the the most part. I'm guessing once we out live our usefulness to the Elder One is when he will try to dispose of us. My wonder is if this is true what use do we have for The Elder One?

What could he need us for? i mean he woudln't want peace in orlais or the mage templar war to end.. so it would have to be something different, something from the fade? or maybe what ever that elf is pulling from the lake? or the activation code for the eluvians, but i dont know why he would need us when he could just grab someone briala told... hmmm.

Ok lets assume he is a master manipulator, but not a god we know (Fen'Harel) are we able to resist his manipulation or see through it? otherwise how is he tricking us? because we know from what the devs have said, he has orchestrated both these wars, the venatori, and the peace summit, but why wouldn't he try to do the same to us? or why wouldn't he destroy skyhold like he did the summit?

OH HEY we never even talked about this, but HOW did he destroy the summit, we see in the trailer its a massive fade explosion but there is no breach, so did he personally do it? or did he send venatori agents with the mage's to cause the explosion, that would make the templars want to keep fight the mage's  instead of them all dropping it and being like "yo dawg that dragon thing needs to die."

Considering the Inquisitor is the only one who can close the Breach, the Elder One better have a good reason to leave him/her alive if he ever has the chance to do otherwise.

Evil Overlord List, people!

that is a good question the fade rips and people die, only described as a blast but no explosion? Odd

Okay...if Bioware does a Tie in with Snickers to Promote the game in a commercial, I would totally be okay with this. Like what they do with Gamestop...

So the Elder One with the help of his agents orchestrated all this for atleast the past few decades, maybe centuries? I can see it happening since we got flemeth.

The "you're mistake that shouldn't have existed" would then apply to somebody who has been planning, with great predictability (or slight omniscience). Everybody died in that explosion, yet the inquisitor lives?

Perhaps that's why the inquisitor isn't attacked from the get go. He is being observed with the hope that the inquisitor might join him. Or maybe possess his body.

says who? I'm not accusing you of being wrong i just want to know why you say that. because we know skyhold if going to be attacked in game, the devs have said that many times.

Yeah, what if he doesn't even really know what you are and doesn't know how to respond, every other action has gone according to plan, or at least right along the path with small to none deviations, but you surviving the blast, there is no way he would plan for that. and again we dont even know what the blast really is for sure, all we know is at the same time you are pulled physically into the fade. which shouldn't happen.

Yeah i just doubt they would use a Old god. I mean when ever we see a dragon people theorize its an old god.

Flemeth can turn into a dragon? Must be an Old God!

A dragon with a cult? must be an Old God!

We see a different looking dragon in the trailer of DA2? Can't be anything but an Old God.

Or hell remember when the announcement trailer for DA:I came out? and it shows the Ferelden Frostback landing below the Breach and everyone was saying it was an old god? people always think its an old god when ever a dragon shows up that i think its just one big red herring.

That generalization may be true for many other people but it doesn't accurately apply to my statement because this is the first time I've used "Must be an Old God" as an answer. We're all allowed one, right? You're probably right about it being a red herring though.

I really wasn't trying to be dismissive, im sorry you if i presented it that. all i was trying to say is i think we shouldn't use dragons as evidence because i think the community as a whole has a bias one way or the other. about the old gods, and its probably because of us play origins and im guessing we have all done different research into the lore.

And we already know the existence of the Old gods are real, and that they are locked below the planet, but this elder one seems new and untouched by thedas legend, or at least it was forgotten a long time ago, which the old gods were not, since some in Tevinter and other parts of the world still worship to them.

Also i would like to mention on the whole maybe its Dumat because Corypheus was speaking to him and why else would there be shrine to him in the tower. well the grey warden were originally Tevinter, so they probably worshiped the old gods. they don't need to be alive to have the tradition.
