I haven't really thought up a good theory that takes all pre established lore into consideration, I'll have to scour over the books and stuff and come up with one!

It might be easy, but it's awesome, and it makes alot of sense. It was foreshadowed with Corypheus in a big way.

Formless one is one of the Forbidden ones, the Forgotten ones are the anti Creators in the Elven pantheon.

Mmm was i write my fanfiction i cannot help but to ponder what can the elder one do exactly.

 

If we had a scope of his abilities then it would likely be easier to judge just what he is.

1 theory is he can control dragons, but its accepted he can cause a breach with the right parameters

Let's see: The eluvians point to a city that taints people without a password (Brialla) or without being cleansed (Morrigan and Merrill).

Avernus can apperantly hear a song coming from the Black City. Dreamers can create a mini fortress in the Fade (comics)

As far as I know there's a growing group (venatori?) In Tevinter that wishes to reestablish its strength and go back to the olden days. One way to do that was via dragon blood.


I wonder if one of the remaining Old Gods is behind this. We know what a corrupted Old God can do, just imagine what a untainted Old God is capable of unleashed?

Dragons and especially Old Gods where worshipped throughout Thedas, but then killed off and abandoned due to Andraste and her Maker. Which may explain his bitterness.
