Or it was black exactly when he reached it, and not a moment before.
Which could just mean that the Golden City nothing more then an illusion to cover the cities true form.
I doubt the existence of the maker and just believe in the spirits, I mean i will probably play as andrastian unless im an elf, but thats because i believe in her. i just think there are just powerful spirits in the fade like the forbidden ones, or Fen'harel, i Dont know if i believe in the creators and Forgotten one, but i do see how faith and the chantry can help the world.
I just don't think we will ever hear a definitive yes or no to his existence
Adraste is real, the Maker is another.
Well, I tend to believe there's some truth to a lot of the religions.
My current thoughts on the Maker is that there was some sort of force that dwelled within the Golden City and transformed the Magisters into immortal Darkspawn. Something also sent them back to Thedas.
Since the Chantry says that it was the Maker that did this, I tend to assume that the Maker does exist in some form. Or at least, the "Denizen of the Golden City" exists. Since the belief that this Denizen is the Maker is integral to the beliefs of the Chantry, and the clear evidence that a force capable of bestowing immortality, and life without need for sustenance to grow and thrive, does indeed exist in that city...
Well. I'd say that the Maker is very much a something. A very dangerous and powerful something, which has proven this by being responsible for the Darkspawn's creation. Maybe its power was corrupted in some way, but that power is still enough to twist and subvert the Old Gods into Archdemons.
If nothing else, there is something that is the Maker of the Darkspawn Taint.
That is the Maker I am reasonably certain exists.
There are truth to the Chantry version of the Darkspawn, but I doubt they were 100% on the money.

If they're introducing characters from the books/comics, I do hope they find a way to introduce them to those of us who don't buy comics.

Of course they aren't 100% on the money. I'm just saying that there was something inside that city, and the Chantry believes that this "something" was the Maker. It's probably very different from what they think it is, but it's very possible that it's even the same being that contacted Andraste.
That's really the question I have about the Maker. It's not so much a question of if there was an incredibly powerful being or force which dwelled within the Golden City, but more about whether or not this being or force is what the Chantry wants it to be. Whatever it is, it's dangerous and powerful.
I also doubt that the Golden City was just an illusion the whole time. However, I do believe there was probably a very good reason why it was so hard to access, and that it probably wasn't just a trap the whole time. Because really, why would you make it so hard to fall into the trap if it was supposed to be fallen into?
Also, I'm probably going to have to find Corypheus's exact words again, as I don't remember them perfectly. He was kind of vague about things, other than than that the Golden Light he had sought had become Black and Corrupt when he got there.

One of the theories is that the black city is the prison of the Elder one and he originally lured the magisters there in order to escape.

One of the theories is that the black city is the prison of the Elder one and he originally lured the magisters there in order to escape.
Then I think the Elder One wouldn't bother claiming that the Maker didn't exist.
He would proudly proclaim that he was, in fact, the Maker himself. He could get a lot more followers that way.

The Elder One proclaims the maker is false, because well, the maker is false. He is a man made article of fiction that spawned a brainwashing oppressive cult.

And why would that be a bad thing from the Elder One's perspective?
It seems to me like it would love to have a brainwashing oppressive Cult to call its own.

It's not a bad thing for The Elder One. But it is too early to truly know what his intentions actually are.

I don't think so, he does have a big ego so I guess he only pretend to be others when he has no other choices in order to get what he wants.

Bioware did it kinda alright with james vega. but i think its going to be easier to introduce Empress Celene, Grand Duke Gaspard, Rhys, and Briala. the rest I don't know. i mean cole is from the books and he is a companion no less XD so they better not half *** it

Well, they had James Vega planned before the comics in this case, and released the comics to further flesh out Vega. It wasn't apopular comic cahracter that made it into the game.

I love cole just a little bundle of.... wait hold up what do we know of cole.... as a whole?(humour me)
He is a spirit that somehow was able to leave the fade but differently from Justice and Wynne's spirit. Tbh i don't like cole that much.

I didn't managed to read any of them, but I know what happens in them, the comics are mostly terrible, novels are meh, the last novel is an abomination and the movie meh.
But bringing in the character from the novels were a terrible job, Kai Leng became a space ninja for no reason and has plot armor the size of a planet. Anderson's girlfriend is a pointless cameo.

It's a bit unclear, but apparently a mage was once tortured and forgotten in a prison in the white spira by templars and Cole lived there and kept the mage company until he died or at least that's how Cole described it in Asunder if I remember correctly and he has also killed people who has either deserved it or out of mercy. The last person he hold up was Lambert at the end of Asunder it's the reason why Lambert is MIA in DA:I.

its a love-hate deal with most due to killing magi but not my point what the EO is a more "evolved" version him able to cross the veil before and interact with it but only for x amount of time but the breach gives him a more permanent place. He is a spirit that somehow was able to leave the fade but differently from Justice and Wynne's spirit. Tbh i don't like cole that much.

Thats one thing that is so different between mass effect extended universe and Dragon age. each book felt important and was an actual good read.
Actually stolen throne was kinda meh to me, but the rest i really enjoyed reading. even the comics, it was nice to see sten is arishock and where maric was. and the books do a wonderful job of setting up orlais and the world we are going to be stepping into,

This give credence to the sentient lyrium theory

So the Sentinels of the Dragon age universe pretty much?
That's my thinking, yeah. Otherwise, I don't see them going around leaving non mages alone. Unless you have no trace of Magic within you or you support them.

The Elder One proclaims the maker is false, because well, the maker is false. He is a man made article of fiction that spawned a brainwashing oppressive cult.
Given that Bioware isn't willing to confirm or deny the existence of various deities its open to player interpenetration, however the fact they are willing to concede the Maker might exist speaks volumes.
A least a lot more then your baseless dismissal.
