That's my thinking, yeah. Otherwise, I don't see them going around leaving non mages alone. Unless you have no trace of Magic within you or you support them.

Or maybe they dont even know for sure who might have magic in there family, and just kill who they think might have magic ancestors.

I know i was using it in a broad way. we have no idea how it's anti magic, accept that's how it is described. it might not negate magic, it might just be for killing magic. we have no idea, so we should take it at face value.

Do you guys know the name of the place where the elves think their creators are trapped? The eternal city, which they believe is in the fade(or called the beyond). So i am going to make an assumption but that would mean the golden city and the Eternal city are the same thing? but in Elven lore their gods were trapped there long before the maker ever cast the Magisters out of the city and left it.

So if true that calls into question the reality of the Maker and the Elven pantheon and even Fen'Harel himself, if he is the one who trapped the creators in their home. and the Magister who brought the taint to Thedas.

Now im going to take another connection which is probably all wrong but something to think about, Fen'Harel locked away the Creators and the Forgotten Ones. and if the Golden City is also the Eternal City, could that make the Old Gods the Forgotten Ones?

Edit: Btw i'm talking about this because i started to reread some stuff and am trying to find some connections. so i didn't even know(or i forgot) it was called the eternal city until a bit ago

A good of theory as any other I suppose. But alas, I haven't read ME or Asunder yet, So I couldn't give you a more in depth answer to your question. Now if only Bioware put them on Audible...*HINT HINT* David....*HINT  HINT*

Hah. but the reason i talked about it was because it might make our theories on the creature being from the black city change, just more food for thought when discussing new theories.

And i should say i kept reading and in the codex entry it says the Forgotten One's would speak only in dreams. which was also the way the Old Gods communicated with the magisters.

if I remember Merril's story correct Fen'hareal trapped the two warring factions of gods, one under ground (The old Gods or forgotten ones as she calls them) and the other in the sky (the eleven gods) no idea what the prisons are called.

He trapped the Forgotten Ones in the abyss and trapped the creators in their heaven. and in elven lore the fade is a holy place home to the god's Eternal city which they are trapped in.

perhaps all faiths are connected but differ in terminology which causes a misunderstanding

Or there is no maker or elven pantheon. they all just see something magical and truth is lost in legend which then becomes religion.

Since there are similarities between the stories, means that there are some truth in the legends.

Oh i believe the legends, i just think the legends aren't as true as we think. If the golden City was the cage of the elven pantheon? than why would the magister becomes tainted when they visited it? cursed by the all father? or what ever the true god of that place is. but then i wonder who did andraste speak to? who told her to go on her exalted march? was it Elgar'nan, because he is the god of vengeance and might hate the tevinter imperium for what they did to his people. I'm just saying if the eternal city is the golden city it calls into question both faiths, and maybe it doesn't have to do with the elder one, but it does mean the fade and the gods are much different than the legends say.

maybe the Gods became so angry it created the taint or maybe in their attempts to escape they created the taint (I actually theorize that the taint is pure chaos and anger in physical form) and the mortal react violent to it along with old Gods.

As for who spoke to Andraste I actually suspect it was Dumat because he was pissed at what Tevinter did to him.

Dumat? Adraste came after his death. are you saying you think he is still alive?

It's possible considering his altar still has power in the Legacy DLC.
