I get the feeling Alexius didn't have much choice in serving the Elder One.
If someone offered a chance to save your family member I'm certain many would take it.

it depends on how close i was personally. But whats the kids deal rewatched that scen and he looks like a body thats suffered water based decayIf someone offered a chance to save your family member I'm certain many would take it.
Don't quote me, but when they were doing that thing with the amulet Dorian says it'll take longer since Alexius is dead.
He only says "give me an hour to work out the spell he used and i should be able to open the rift." then after some cinematic fighting just tells the inquisitor "if you move we all die."

Who knows I guess the Elder One likes screwing his lackeys over as a form of entertainment,
One of the other curious things Alexius said during the fight was "why didn't you send your assassins this time." so i think we might see Alexius a few times. or maybe he captured Leliana earlier in the game.
would make him important to the storyOne of the other curious things Alexius said during the fight was "why didn't you send your assassins this time." so i think we might see Alexius a few times. or maybe he captured Leliana earlier in the game.

we don't even know how far in the game that takes place. How long did they say the story was? 50 hours or something?
Sometime after the MT war
I dont think so since we see mage's and templars fighting in the wilderness outside the village.
I do wonder if any bioware people come into this thread and just laugh at our theories XD they could always say hi just so we know they are silently watching and laughing at our far fetched theories ![]()
Im just going off what i heard. But you could right
I mean we dont know when the mt war ends during the game, early or late game. maybe its your choice when you do it.
I personally think its somewhat early more because bioware usually only shows gameplay from early on in their games as previews as to not spoil anything super important.
I think this is actually Dorian's recruitment quest, he comes to skyhold or you find him and tells you about bad mages or some sort about the fade and when we go to investigate we find its actually his old master and mentor and its the end of that part of his story not his whole story just that part and we spend the rest of the game finding out what happened between them. As far as theories to who or what the elder one is, there just is to little info, could be anything from corpheus to the trikster elven god to even the maker himself decideing you know what f this place I really am going to destroy it.
a other fun theory is the elder one is an old god who is even older than the other old gods just a thought as dragons are not naitive to the world.
thats pretty reasonable. But dont be afraid to make any theory you want we almost always run with them or dissect em if their re`lly goodI think this is actually Dorian's recruitment quest, he comes to skyhold or you find him and tells you about bad mages or some sort about the fade and when we go to investigate we find its actually his old master and mentor and its the end of that part of his story not his whole story just that part and we spend the rest of the game finding out what happened between them. I edited my post with my random theory ^^;
it makes sense in a way, The old gods taught Tevinter blood magic, invade the black city, and than get cast out corrupting it, perhaps they answered to something bigger than themselves, and want to control the fade or perhaps they come from the fade and the golden city is not actually part of the fade itself. sort of like how sygil is its own plane but you can see it in other planes of existence in planscape. And bring the fade into the world allows the elder one easier access to the black city.

Demons and codex entries have said you can always see the golden city/eternal city from any point in the fade but no one ever goes to it. so maybe there is a barrier protecting the golden city

exactly, its not really part of the fade sort of like how there is the veil separating the fade from the world, perhaps eliminating the veil is the first step to eliminating the barrier between the city and the fade. Its a possibility I suppose.

Well If the Golden city and the Eternal city are the same place (How many heaven cities can be in the fade?) is the legend true about Fen'Harel locking the city up, or was it someone else? and is the person against the elder one or who ever is in it?
