He plays other people's savegames on his Dreamcast.

only played gundam and resident evil on it. It can do that?

That's where Solas comes into play. Apparently, he can look into the past by going to a place with a thin veil and sleeping. He can experience the memories of people who were once there, kinda like a video recording.

i dont put much stock in his power since it a form oc psychometry and can get muddled

My pet theory is that they will introduce the Maker as a very powerful spirit. Something that can make the opponents of the Chantry say "See? He's not a god!" while the advocates go "what are you babbling about? He's still the creator of Thedas!"

Isn't that basically what the Maker is described to be anyways?

The Chantry claims that the Maker made the Spirits to be just like him in every way, failing only to give them creativity like his own.

So, if we believe that account, the Maker sounds like he was simply the first Spirit from which all others originate, and differred from them primarily in terms of power and creativity. In this case, I imagine him to be something like "The Spirit of Creativity", as creativity is supposed to be the primary thing he cares about.

It's probably why he doesn't like to show his face all too often, and why he wouldn't mind dropping Darkspawn onto everyone. Necessity is the mother of invention after all. Making life on Thedas hard for everyone just encourages them to find creative solutions for survival. He wants people to use their imaginations and be original, not just come to him for answers about everything.

The more the Maker shows himself, the more people would expect him to show himself and the more they would expect him to solve their problems for them, and so they wouldn't bother coming up with their own solutions. They would just end up singing the same boring songs about how great he was, until he got bored and went away to make something better like he did with the Spirits.

If you're implying he's treating people like ants and burning them, I would have to say no.

He doesn't want to see people in pain, he wants to see them making and doing new things.

If that takes giving them new and terrible problems to provide the proper motivation, then that's probably what he would give them.

I think maybe someone created thedas and the fade. but now he does nothing. either the maker did leave like the chantry says, or he just isn't at a seat to speak to people or give blessings or curses.

He watches. You give people too many blessings and they'll just not make any of their own. Also, the people of Thedas currently have enough problems to motivate them, they don't need the Maker giving them any more right now.

No offense. Just trying to explain my view of what he's probably like.

Maybe he's ashamed of mortals, but at least they still do make new things, and as long as they do he'll probably still consider them worth paying attention to. The Chantry says he'll leave even if you do nothing but sing his praises all day, because he's more interested in you actually making something than you telling him how great he is.

I wonder if the Magisters open the veil in a special place so they could reach the golden city. or maybe you have to physically be in the fade to reach it.

One of the magisters was probably a dreamer and could shape the fade so they could reach it.

If we are gonna start to compare The Elder One other evil entities for a point of reference...My choices would be...

This guy

This one "I lived ten thousand lifetimes before the first of your kind crawled out of the mud! It was I who broke through the divide that separated the plane of spirits from the material world! To hate me is to give me breath. To fight me is to give me strength. Now prepare to face oblivion!"Vaatu, LoK

Alien: The truth is that there are living beings in space, invisible to your scientists, undetectable by man-made devices. They are older than this planet, and if they ever had physical bodies they are rid of them now... They simply drift... and wait.-Hellboy

"I am called a villain, but mine is a doctrine reflected in the unspoken truths behind all other philosophies. Recognize that truth, my child: Strife is the single element most essential to meaning and existence. Without conflict, without struggle, all of creation might as well be so many unmoving, unfeeling stones. Without me to hate, who would have cause to call themselves holy or just?"
The Book of Charnel, Sacrifice

I have pointed out who the Elder One reminds me off, but I'll do it again because the character is pretty awesome.

Let me show you the Elder God, who is just as arrogant if not more then the Elder One.

By that logic, the Maker could be the Elder one in disguise.
