Hate to say it but we need tevinter knowledge to help us

You say that as if it's a bad thi-

Oh, wait, sorry. I forgot not everyone is going to play a mage inquisitor hell-bent on returning the Tevinter Imperium to its former glory.

Carry on.

Isn't that basically what the Maker is described to be anyways?

The Chantry claims that the Maker made the Spirits to be just like him in every way, failing only to give them creativity like his own.

So, if we believe that account, the Maker sounds like he was simply the first Spirit from which all others originate, and differred from them primarily in terms of power and creativity. In this case, I imagine him to be something like "The Spirit of Creativity", as creativity is supposed to be the primary thing he cares about.

It's probably why he doesn't like to show his face all too often, and why he wouldn't mind dropping Darkspawn onto everyone. Necessity is the mother of invention after all. Making life on Thedas hard for everyone just encourages them to find creative solutions for survival. He wants people to use their imaginations and be original, not just come to him for answers about everything.

The more the Maker shows himself, the more people would expect him to show himself and the more they would expect him to solve their problems for them, and so they wouldn't bother coming up with their own solutions. They would just end up singing the same boring songs about how great he was, until he got bored and went away to make something better like he did with the Spirits.

Technically, yes. But in practice religious supporters tend to have problems if you call their god "just" anything.

By that logic, the Maker could be the Elder one in disguise.

Could it?

I suppose it's possible, but in that case I would assume that he would fully admit to his being the Maker rather than deny the Maker's existence.

I really don't expect the Maker to make an appearance any time soon, but I think it's likely that some things may be related to the nature of his supposed being. In general, the Maker's behavior is consistent with a Spirit who wants to promote Creativity, and so wisely avoids providing readymade solutions for everyone and leaves them to make their own.

The Elder One seems different from that. He almost seems intent on unmaking things, if I had to guess. His intent to destroy the Veil is likely to also involve getting mortals killed off, and restoring reality to its primoridal state of being nothing more than Spirits and Demons ****** around in the Veil doing jack ****.

That was a state of existence which the Maker supposedly found lacking, and I doubt he would want to return to that.

It wouldn't be first time the Maker (assuming he is real) have tried to destroy the world according to the Chantry he made the Darkspawn who can destroy the world more or less and if he wants the real world to think out of the box then creating such much chaos as there is in DA:I would force them to think out of the box and claiming not to be the maker would make sure he isn't to blame for this and crush moral among the believers of his.

Eh, people were able to handle the Blight. And if they weren't able to handle the Blights, they really wouldn't deserve to after breaking into his house. However, mortals were creative enough to handle their own against a mindless horde, and so they've won their right to survive despite ruining the Maker's city.

Right now, I doubt the Maker feels he needs to pile more problems on Thedas, as people are still needing to find new and inventive ways to survive, rebel, or deal with Darkspawn. Also, if there's any truth to that whole Herald of Andraste thing that's been going around, and it does seem there is, it's possible that he's even throwing in a little indirect assistance for the Mortals of Thedas.

But really, I doubt the Maker would consider it fun if the Mortals didn't even have a fighting chance to survive. I doubt he would want to start right back from the beginning again.

There are no certain answers to how anything happened.

As for continued thoughts on the Maker, I imagine praying to him even while he was responding would have been right next to useless. A God whose primary focus is Creativity will probably only do two things. Give you creative problems, possibly in the form of potential solutions, or pat you on the head and tell you to be creative and claim he trusts that you'll think of something.

Is that my fault? this thread said there would be spoilers. the creator of the thread said there would be spoilers. so is it my fault for spoiling since everyone who posts and discuss this thread assume there will be spoilers and need to speak of spoilers so we can discuss our theories.

If you're scared of being spoiled. be wary of the threads you go into.

When i went on twitter the night of the Red Wedding episode of GOT and i haven't seen the episode i didn't blame the people when it was spoiled. it was my fault for not being careful.

This thread is about spoilers and theories. so i wont hold my tongue or give warning every post i make when i am in a conversation.

The opening post said there would be spoilers. if you didn't take forewarning its not my fault. It is the same if i said SPOILER before i wrote anything.

I'm sorry it was spoiled and i feel bad for you. they are still really good books and much is still unspoiled. since a lot of things in that book don't completely involve the maybe appearance of the elder one so we haven't spoken of it.

Anyway...I think should just elude Either the Maker and the Creators and not address them. If they do that they may risk making the Maker or Creators Unambiguous.
