For years I've played my games on my Xbox360 with no internet connection and loved it. In order to play on a console and use the Keep I will either have to shell out at least $60 to hook my Xbox up to the internet for this one game, or else get a new console. I don't have the money for either option (I barely have enough budgeted for the game), and I love Dragon Age. I would love to see my choices impact my game more than just about anything.

Which brings me to my real question. The only computer I have is my laptop, an HP Pavillion g series, no upgrades. (I was broke when I bought it and it was the cheapest thing at the store.) Is it possible to play Dragon Age Inquisition on my computer without crashing it or anything? I really want to use the Keep if possible, but the little I know about computers suggests that it might be impossible to use it in this particular situation. I would be very thankful if anyone could answer this for me.

When did you buy your laptop? How much was it?

If it was the cheapest laptop at the store, even if you bought it yesterday... I'd have to think the answer is probably no. But you'll need to be more specific (model number in particular, it's probably on a sticker somewhere on your laptop) to get a more reliable answer.

Yeah this probably wont work. Radeon 6480 is primitive and that looks to be the GPU installed. You may be able to play on ultra-low settings, non full screen, 800x600 and maybe get 24 FPS if you're lucky. You would benefit more from either getting the internet issues solved with your xbox or just playing with the default world state.

I guess I'll just play with the standard background for now and maybe one day when I have enough to upgrade I'll buy it again for that console. Oh well.

Thanks everybody.

Is it an xbox with no wifi receiver? Otherwise you do have a few options, and even without one you could still get a connection via a few ways.

It's one of the older models. I got it new 5 or 6 years ago and it still works like the first day I got it, but there is no wifi. What are these other ways you speak of? I was told I'd need to get a special part to connect to the internet on this Xbox360 when I looked into it a couple of years back. If you tell me the guy at BestBuy was just trying to sell me something and I can just attach a cable to my modem or something, I'm going to be simultaneously furious and delighted.

I believe the older model 360s have an ethernet port on the back where you can just plug the cable in.  Its not as convenient as wifi but you should still be able to connect to the internet

my apologies for being ignorant but i must ask this.

DOES THIS GAME REQUIRES INTERNET CONNECTION ALL THE TIME LIKE DIABLO 3?

... Dammit, I can put an Ethernet cable in there! I can use the Keep! Thank you so much! Now I've got to plan out my 5 backgrounds in detail...

I'm fairly certain EA learned their lesson from Sim City. So I highly doubt it.

As I understand it DAI should require a connection

a) On PC, once to activate.

b ) To import a world state from the keep at the start of the game.

And that's it.

edit: also for multiplayer, obviously
