We know that the PC is a special snowflake blessed with divine super powers & that only they can save the world.

The PC is essentially the DA version of Action Jesus.

So far from the bits & pieces from the trailer Bio look to be going down the "PC is blessed by Andraste" or "PC's powers are the result of an accident caused by some evil douche bag" route.

There will undoubtedly be some twists & turns along the inquisitor/ Action Jesus' path of self discovery but I wonder what kind of mentor figure they will have, or if they will have one at all.

Personally I think a Kreia like character fits the bill perfectly (Personal Bias not with standing). Granted KOTOR 2 seems to be a lot darker than DA:I will be but whatevs.

Do you guys think we will have a mentor in DA:I or do you think we should have one at all?

I think some of your companions such as blackwall or solas has that potential, but it depends on how you treat them.

Some random drunk npc and he gets killed after saying his words of wisdom.

Thats my bet.

But I'm assuming fade spirits gave theme their powers and thus will whisper to them from time to time or something.

Yeah, so they can die at some point of the story and his/her death inspires the hero to fight on and become stronger. Before the final boss fight the spirit of your mentor can whisper something like "Use the Force, Inquisitor."

From Enemy of Thedas trailer, it would seem that Solas would train Inquisitor in his/hers Fade powers.

It may also be the case, that our advisors will teach the Inquisitor in their specialties.

Obviously the Inquisitor will see the ghost of Trask Ulgo in the Fade. Never forget.

But yeah, I feel like Cassandra will be an Inquisition mentor along with Leliana, Solas will coach you re: your Fade powers and Dorian will probably have inside info on the Venatori.

It doesn't seem like there will be one specific 'mentor character'

Cass founded the Inquisition, so her experience and knowledge will be invaluable to an Inquisitor

Solas can guide the Inquisitor in the ways of the fade

Blackwall, has the older mentor vibe, plus he is a Grey Warden, his tactical advice will be very useful

Vivienne knows the ways of the Game and Inquisitor may need to play it to survive,

Then there are the advisors, each guiding the Inquisitor towards the best course of action.

Depending on the personality of your Inquisitor and the choices you make, all of these or none of these could be your mentor.

Varric if I had to guess, he'll probably be following Cassandra around cause he's bored. Boom, suddenly the loveable wise older brother you never had.

Well ....

Advisors for Advisor stuff.

Solas for Fade stuff.

Cassandra for basic stuff.

Vivienne for The Game stuff.

Maybe Blackwall for fancy tactics?

I wouldn't be surprised if Solas mentors The Inquisitor on how to use their fade powers (especially if The Inquisitor isn't a mage)

Solas gives me that impression with magical aspects
And blackwall serves as the mortal aspect

Solas or Dorian, if any such mentoring role exists in the game.

It's probably Solas considering the trailer and the fact that he has apparently been studying the Fade for years... nobody else seems qualified.

Solas will train you and then probably betray you.

Action Jesus is a strong independent hero who don't need no mentor.

At least I'd prefer that considering my Inquisitor is going solo.

Action Jesus....that needs to be a show on Comedy Central/a movie on syfy....

...

Oh yeah the topic, I'd say Blackwall would be the mentor type in regards to being a leader, while solas would be the mentor in regards to mastering your powers

I can't say Action Jesus without smiling. (Note to Self : Got to name one Inquisitor Action Jesus)

As for our mentors, I think all companions will advice in some form:

Obviously the advisors are going to advice:

Cullen for Military Stuff

Josephine for Diplomatic Solutions

Leliana for Espionage

Solas - The Fade, maybe your glowing hand problem

Dorian - Tevinter, Venetori

Sera -  Network of the Undercity? of Orlais (The non nobles)

Blackwall - Moral Support - similar to Wynne, maybe

Ironbull - How to kill a beast with one strike

Cassandra - Inquisition Stuff

Vivienne - Politics of Orlais 'The Game'

Cole - Maybe his unique circumstance helps the inquisitor deal with their own glowing hand unique circumstance, unsure to be honest.

Varric - How to grow a manly chest (not sure either)

As for a main mentor I would guess, Cassandra, Vivienne or Solas who seem to be the most qualified of the bunch.

You think a mentor you should have?

Judge it by the size of your inquisition you must.

From what I see each of the companions will mentor you in or handle things for you in a particular field.

  • Cassandra will advise you in Chantry buisness
  • Vivienne will advise you in Orlesian politics
  • Solas will mentor you in closing fade rifts and using our new powers
  • Sera will advise you in dealing with the common folk (the Inquisitor is either a noble, Dalish, Carta member or mercenary)
  • Iron Bull will advise you in any Qunari-related matters
  • Dorian will advise you in any matters related to Tevinter

Then obviously there are the three advisors for politics, military and espionage.

You don't really need a mentor when you have so many experts working with you.
