Devices, hack, pizzas. I got it at my 2nd attempt. In the first one, I played relatively well, but got terrible objectives (devices, devices, targets) and failed. Then I rage- redid it, played like crap but got good objectives and succeeded. This sums-up pretty well my whole soloing career. 

 

I used AP rounds. I find that they're by far the best for the Claymore. The double hits almost compensate for the absence of damage bonus VS Atlases' shields, and the damage bonus VS armor is enough to one-hit kill Dragoons with a Cloaked shot on the body. It's possible too with Incendiary or Warp, but then the performance VS Atlases' shields is mediocre. Disruptor are nice for tech bursts and crow control but then it's impossible to one-hit kill Dragoons without a headshot... what can be problematic. All in all I think that AP are the best for this setup.

On a side note, I noticed that it is the first video with the AIU since... october 2014 !  The last 40+ solos with her were screenshots ! I guess that being caught playing with a sexy articifial woman reminds bad memories to some of us.

2nd attempt, got myself Banshee hugged by the end of wave 9 on the first try, sneaky Banshees.

Been wanting to get a sub 30 in with this kit for a long time, happy I finally got around to do it.

Today I tried to do a sub-35 solo with the HSent again As always I picked White/Cerberus. I didn't use any consumables up until wave 3, because I was playing very good. On wave 3 I got an escort which cost me some gels and ops packs, but it went well. Wave 5 was very short because I got two killstreaks. On wave 6 I got that hack which is hard to cheese, and despite ark explaining to me several times how to do it, I still didn't manage to cheese it. It was on this wave that I somehow managed to stay in the circle for the full duration without wasting missiles. After the hack was finished, I did something that I could never have imagined. I killed all 8 remaining enemies with a single missile. I was so happy that I started menacingly laughing for 3 minutes. I got to wave 10 alright, where I got pizzas. I told myself "This is it XAN, you're gonna break the sub35 barrier with your favourite character". I finished the objective, but I had no gels and ops so I had to kite. Used 3 of my 4 missiles on cleanup, and prepared for the goon rush. Wave 11 started and I was doing really well holding my ground in the corner of glory. I got overwhelmed so I started running with 1:20 left. I jumped down the ladder and "You have been disconnected from the Mass Effect 3 servers." I was sitting there for 30 seconds, staring at the message, speechless and shocked. Dear Sony and Biower... areyoufuckingkiddingme.jpg

I haven't had that happen myself, but now and then I get crash to desktop, have happened a couple of times during the later waves of solos, at first I believed it was isolated to pugging with hosts with potato connections, but it can happen also when I'm soloing.

Remarks / suggestions / criticisms are always welcome. You're right. You can stack armor mitigation and cover penetration with AP rounds and piercing mods, but then, when you shoot through cover, you get the damage penalty from the mod (while there isn't any damage penalty with AP rounds alone). That's why I took the HCB instead of the HVB, as ignoring 100% of armor instead of 90% isn't really a big deal on a high damage per shot weapon like the Claymore, and AP 4 are enough for double hits on an Atlas' canopy. At the opposite, I was relunctant to loose 30% damage per shot through cover, even more that Phantoms hide frequently behind various structures.

 

As for the build, the 5a option in Snap Freeze is both a crowd control choice / console scrubbery adjustement. When their speed is reduced by 35%, Dragoons and Phantoms basically move at the speed you can adjust the joystick.   This is even more important that the Claymore looses a big part of its damage past a few meters, so you're constantly in CQC with this gun. I took the bet that reducing my % of missed shots and increasing my % of headshots would do more for me than a 10% debuff. It's possible that I'm wrong, I didn't make tests before doing this solo. With a mouse in hands, I would certainly take 5b.

 

Concerning the ammo, I agree that Snap Freeze + a Claymore shot with disruptor kills a plat Dragoon. But in many cases (when they spawn behind you for example), you have too fight them without the possibility to chill them first. I find it more reliable to be able to one-shot kill them.  I want them dead, now !   In the opposite order (shoot then Snap Freeze), the Cloak breaks and I have to wait the end of the cooldown to spam SF. Sometimes disruptor stun Dragoons, but sometimes it doesn't.  

 

Disruptor is certainly a viable choice though, it would just need a few adjustments. I would like to try it once, but shotguns   amps are always too rare.

Not this time, but an Atlas camping one of them with a clear line of sight, took me almost an extra minute to get it away, and then when targets came up again on wave 6 it was an immediate rage quit (alt + tab), I just don't have much patience left for targets or devices anymore

Pizza, Hack, Targets
 

This was my first successful Plat Solo. Many failures with many characters...as it goes. Got to Wave 10 without using Missiles, so pretty happy about that.

Decided to go with something highly defensive so I'd survive (Cryo Rounds IV, Responder Loadout and Cyclonic Mod IV)

I have lost one Atlas on second wave - have no idea what happened to him. This is about +12 seconds, I think. As a result, we get something like 19:55, so it's still sub20.

 

I also managed to beat my personal record in 10 WS plat solo:
