I understand how you feel, Loufi, Bioware seem determined to alienate a lot of their biggest fans. But you put a lot of time into the HoF, it would be a real shame if it just disappeared.

Agreed 100%. You've done a fantastic job Loufi. Same to you Cato potatohead for setting up the excel to organize things easier. Don't allow the announcement to dampen that.

I had prepared my file and was about to update next week. But now with that decision... I'm very disappointed and on the mood to let it die. But I will not decide immediatly and see how I feel about this in the next weeks.

I understand the disappointment, but I think we should keep this going somewhere. Too much dedication went into this HOF. Speaking for myself: before I went into a hiatus recently, this thread was a major inspiration. IMO there are too many great stories in it to let it die. Hopefully we can find a new home.

Thanks Loufi for this thread. The only reason I came to BSN in the first place was to marvel at the Platinum Solos, to work out what to aspire to, and get ideas on game play via the video links to YouTube. 

 

Then I started looking at all the funny stuff too and got into it for a short few months, well up to now.

I've decided to more or less retire from platinum soloing, might do a few tries here and there but I won't be actively soloing any more. The decision to close down BSN were the last nail in the coffin for me and I haven't really enjoyed it that much lately, so I'm going to save myself a lot of frustration from all the wave 10 devices and targets.

At this stage I don't even know how many I've actually done (stopped counting after 200). I probably won't stop it completely, might do a few random attempt here and there but I just don't enjoy it that much anymore.

I have done a couple of Gold solos the last few days and I have to say that I really liked it, it's so much more casual and relaxed, even the wave 10 targets and devices feels like a breeze on Gold compared to Platinum.

So I might do a few attempts here and there but I'm retiring from active platinum soloing.

That is a truly damn good resume. I never enjoyed soloing for various reasons but no denying I enjoyed seeing players put in the work (and patience) of doing them and mastering it. I wonder if Andromeda will have anything similar...

250 feels like a good number to stop at, 160 hours that's the equivalent of 4 regular working weeks, and that's only counting completed solos, yeah I do need a new hobby

The thread is updated. I will maintain it until the 26th of august. I've also built a file gathering all the solos since 2012 that I will put at disposal if needed. However, I will not assume this responsibility anymore on an other website. Bioware's decision to shut down BSN has admittedly decreased my motivation to do so, but more importantly I'm going to have an important career change at the beginning of september, so I expect my free time to seriously reduce in the next months. All in all I interpret it as a signal for me that it is time to pass on the torch to someone that will be still fully dedicated to take care of the PHOF. I'm confident that we will find somebody to assume this job. While it was quite time consuming back in 2014-2015, at this stage of the game it shouldn't be too demanding.

 

Nevertheless maintaining and developing this topic has been a pleasure these last three years. Despite their great achievements, soloers have all remained modest and mutually supportive, what was very important to me. I think I can say that this thread has -modestly but yet significantly- participated to promote Mass Effect 3 multiplayer in social medias and more globally on the internet, notably thanks to all the youtubers who may have found some insipration in the completionist categories or in the statistics of the PHOF. On this last matter, I want to address a special thanks to cato and TheNightSlasher who have alternately handled the role of stats master. Cheers to everybody who has participated to this topic since 2012 and to all the ME lovers.

Fully understand you as my own motivation to even attempt new solos died with the closing of BSN. Thanks for all the great work done here and best of luck with your new assignment!

Before the closure there might be one more solo I will attempt, I never did a flawless platinum solo so that might be the last thing I attempt before quitting completely.
