Yes, he had also added around 1 minute on the time of his last solo, I would be curious to know how he counts or if these differences are just mistakes.

Remark : he is too modest to say it himself, but cato is now the player with the highest number of 10 waves survived solos in the PHOF.

 

 

Totally unrelated to that, a question came to my mind while updating : has anyone ever done a platinum solo with explosive rounds ? That wouldn't be a big deal with some characters, but I can't remember one at the moment.

Hack, hack, targets. Keeping 3 missiles for wave 10 was a good intuition for this run (I probably felt that RNG was being too kind with 2 hacks lol).

The video between the first 2 solos is actually a montage between these two games. Indeed, the recording crashed at the end of the first solo. I immediatly redid one but the gameplay was inferior so I finally merged the 2 solos. Basically waves 1 to 9 are from the first solo, and the rest is from the second solo.

 

I finally did a third and uploaded it too. In comparison, the gameplay in the first video has more cool headshots and the 20 HS medal earlier (wave 4 VS wave 5, no big deal), while the gameplay in the second one is more smooth and clean. Not getting targets made it also faster.

 

I used the Arc pistol with the Heavy barrel and... the power magnifier. This is quite unorthodox, but there's an advantage to this setup : a Cloaked Overload totally destroys a Phantom's barrier. Then, a headshot and the Phantom is dead.

 

As for the ammo, AP 4. I first tried with Drill but found it not effective enough against Dragoons and stopped. Incendiary could be a great choice too (likely the best against Dragoons) for fire explosions but I didn't want to rely on AoE damage for these solos.

 

 

Also, QME with Adas :

Pizzas, pizzas, escort. I kinda liked the last solo I did with the Adas so I decided to record one with this weapon. I used incendiary rounds this time (instead of disruptor), which are the best choice IMO on this gun for an overall good efficiency against all defenses. Power amp for the armor bonus, a better choice than a cyclonic given the character used and the map. As for the build, 36656. Ignoring Tac Scan for 10% more weapon damage is probably better but I like to play my characters with their 3 powers and seeing Banshees through walls is always nice.

 

 

Finally, volus adept with Wraith :

I had done my previous solo with the voldept with the Phalanx so I wanted to redo one with a good weapon. Alas I got targets wave 3 and used 4 missiles. Usually I quit in this situation but, I don't know why, I decided to continue this time. It resulted in a quite long solo. I post it mainly because it's one more entry for the mighty Wraith.

Phantoms are awesome to fight.  Acolyte -> Backhand -> Carnage for glorious exploding Phantom even on host

 

Just gotta build it right.  As one of the main enemies on Platinum, you should prepare for the eventuality

This solo was inspired by tiwyg23 - you were right that it's not as fast a setup as I would normally use, just look at the time
It was really good fun though and headshotting Phantoms with the Kishock never gets old.

Initially I tried the same Arc Pistol setup as you but after I died half way through that game I switched back to my normal heavy barrel and mag, which felt more comfortable. I used AP ammo each time.

If the Arc Pistol wasn't able to get round shield gate then I would probably keep the power amp on it though.

I encourage soloers to post their builds, and several of them already do it systematically, but I don't want to make it mandatory. I also repeat that people can feel free to discuss about builds and strategies for plat solos here, this thread is also dedicated to that. I'm also pretty sure that all regular posters here would take the time needed to answer to a PM about their build and / or strategy for plat solos.

Wave 10 targets denied a sub-40. Had 3 rockets going into w10, used 2 on targets. Waves 2 and 8 were a blast as enemies kept bunching up making singularity+smash super effective. Lash was a very effective vs. phantoms.

 

@cato: can you tell where he is ranked after this solo.
