But yeah, this is a reason i hadn't thought of to have a world where Alistair isn't beheaded!

I didn't think i'd see the day.

I'm totally going to have to make my first ever Alistair lives *as a drunken fool* run if this is an option.

No, they are under full control of the chantry. They are hardly independent but that's not even what autonomy means. The circles will be like a nation, they will make their own money from various ways such as enchantment and general magic services. They will choose how to live inside circles. For example (really just an example lol) if they decide t have a dance party in the circles the Templars cannot do anything about AS LONG AS its confined within the circle.

But that's what happens!

Play DAO again, Gregoir will direct the Warden to Irving if we want help because ultimately, the First Enchanter has the final word in matters related to the Circle. The money Tranquil make goes ALL to the Circle, Mr. Gaider has said as much.

The Templars guard and keep the Circle isolated, that's it. What more autonomy do you want if you also wish to allow the Templars to continue serving their purpose?

That was my reaction when the college of enchanters was disbanded for merely proposing and discussing the idea of autonomy in circles. That's when I fully realized I hope for a peaceful change is gone.

No, they were discussing forcing the Templars to retreat, big difference.

The Circles are already autonomous.

Autonomous, my ass. They were ruled by the Templars and you know it. Call a spade, a spade, JB.

Just like those templars Lambert sent were "assassins" right?

Heh.

Note that I didn't say that the Templar oversight is unnecessary. But they still ruled the Circles and you know it.

So the whole novel was a lie then? Because clearly Fiona suggests separation from Chantry and deciding their own fate, its more like absolute autonomy. Also isn't the Ferelden circle the best one in Thedas? Clearly not all of them have the same condition. Anders escaped 16 times but because he was not blood mage he was not killed. In Kirkwall apostates are made tranquil if they escape from circle. I doubt other circles are more than slightly better than Kirkwall.

Obviously there was not enough autonomy, how can you ask for something that already exists and then a war gets started for it? LOL?

Honestly i wish they did, or at least in Kirkwall...how many lives would have been spared if Orsino had gotten out of the picture a decade or so before his death?

We can't really judge how the other circles are based just on Ferelden and Kirkwall.  The only thing I can tell is that the Ferelden circle was never really specified as being really good while its constantly pointed out how bad Kirkwall was and how many templars there abused their position.

I haven't read most of the supplemental material, so can I get an idea of what kind of person Fiona is?

preferably not from someone who is obviously biased against her for being the triple crime of an elven, woman, mage?

She's currently Gaider's favorite Mary Sue.

Former Grey Warden, Grand Enchanter, obstinate moron and worse.

Oh and she also happened to give birth another of Gaider's sues, Alistair.

She has more titles than years Stannis has lived on Westeros.

She "earned" Stormborn just by being born while there was a storm raging outside.

That way anyone can have titles.

She appeared in the second novel/media Dragon Age first showed up as.  She was a grey warden who used to be an elven slave that was sexually abused who was then later on turned into the circle after getting magic talents.  In the novel, she has sex with Maric and gives birth to Alistair at the end.  She also somehow stopped being a Grey Warden when she lost the taint through some demon possession thing.  Later on in Asunder, she talks about how she came back to the circle because something needed to be fixed and she's now the grand enchanter.

Most people's accusations of a sue come from the fact that she's a cured grey warden, head enchanter, and mother to quite possibly the king of Ferelden.

Its more that he appears in a lot of media I think due to his popularity I think.  I don't agree with it myself that he's a sue.
