So the whole novel was a lie then? Because clearly Fiona suggests separation from Chantry and deciding their own fate, its more like absolute autonomy.

She hasn't even presented a single plan that places restrictions upon mages. Evidently, either she doesn't have one yet or she is not interested in doing so.

That is quite different from what you were suggesting.

Anders escaped 16 times but because he was not blood mage he was not killed. In Kirkwall apostates are made tranquil if they escape from circle.

Anders escaped seven times. Seriously, you need to brush up on the lore.

Also, Allain, Ellia and Idunna come to mind as apostates that weren't made Tranquil; two of them were even blood mages.

Obviously there was not enough autonomy, how can you ask for something that already exists and then a war gets started for it? LOL?

Very easily, in fact.

I mean, hey, recently a certain nation has been the news by starting an offensive with the declared of purpose of "defending itself" but many analists would claim they were never in any danger to begin with.

Rarely is a war fought for the actual reasons leaders claimed they were.

Most people's accusations of a sue come from the fact that she's a cured grey warden, head enchanter, and mother to quite possibly the king of Ferelden.

Uh you left out the ex slave slave turned circle mage, turned grey warden turned former grey warden turned grand enchanter, turned freedom fighter bit :P

She "earned" Stormborn just by being born while there was a storm raging outside.

That way anyone can have titles.

I am MisterJB, Fireposter because it's way too damn hot outside and yet here I am.

Mary Sue is so overused it doesn't mean anything other than "Character I don't like."

Alain willfully surrendered.

However, I don't understand how the hell Idunna didn't get head lopped off by Meredith for what she did? Idunna literally lured Templars to their eventual possession by demon.

There are still some general guidelines that you can follow, but perhaps in this case "Writer's Pet" is better suited, if not a strong enough word

Serious?

Yeah

Alistair in Origins is completely at the Warden's tender or not mercy and half the cast thinks he's a total idiot and he only becomes King if his friend/leader/girlfriend managed to convince/buy the nobility or through an armed insurrection.

Yeah.  It seems like there's times Meredith was very lenient and others where it's said she's too harsh, corrupt, etc.  Does it depend on when she got the lyrium idol?

That only strengthens the argument that he's a Gary Stu.

Writer's Pet is still just another overused pejorative for characters people don't like.  The only difference is the perception that the writers likes a character that certain fans don't.  (HOW DARE THEY!)

I haven't read most of the supplemental material, so can I get an idea of what kind of person Fiona is?

preferably not from someone who is obviously biased against her for being the triple crime of an elven, woman, mage?

In addition to what has already been said, Fiona (in Asunder) believed in mage autonomy from the Chantry and the templars, since she advocated a Libertarian solution for the Circles. She exclaimed, “I came to the Circle from the Grey Wardens because I saw something had to be done. In the Wardens, we learn to watch for our moment and seize it - and that moment is now.”

when the character is a rags to riches story, on top of a rebel leader, on top of a mother to a king, and whatever else, I think we are firmly in writer's pet territory

Also, she completely avoids any blame by taking the position that she can't control other people's actions, even if she did provoke said actions.

Liara has more fans than most, so this is obviously not true.

Aka she was a self deluded narcissist who really doesn't care who dies for her cause.

Like Anders, but with less terrorism and more insurrection.

At least Anders was man enough at the end of it to accept his execution.

I doubt Fiona would accept death with as much grace.

How?

The fact that most think he sounds stupid even when he trying to prove himself, but somehow still becomes competent part. That's sue-ish. Everyone liking you isn't a requirement to be a sue.
