I love CRT monitors! Never have to worry about dead pixels and the screen doesn't look fuzzy and crap like LCDs usually do.

the hell kind of LCD are you looking at :/ TFT is good...and dead pixles can be easily fixed by leaving the monitor on letting the liquid crystals heat up >.> since they expand when they get warmed it would likely solve a few of the dead pixles most places tell you if theres more then five or so dead pixles they will replace it -shrugs- also CLEAR TYPE fixes letter fuzzyness and if you dont have decent connection cables you wont get all the quality your supposed to either >.> IMO after using a LCD/TFT display CRT Fails more epicly then G..W.B at war :innocent:

:P I wouldn't supose you would happen to know why my upper eyelid on the interior of the lid twitches a bit sometimes >.< It feels weird lol :whistle:

Without actually seeing you, it's impossible to properly diagnose that.  The link on lid twitching is very useful information for a start.  That kind of thing used to happen to me every finals week in doc school--too much caffeine, too much stress, not enough sleep--and it would go away after a bunch of us went out for a pitcher of beer after our last final and about 12 hours of sleep.  Now, mind you, I do not advocate drinking to solve this issue.  See your eye doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.  :)

Thanks for the responses everyone. I should point out I don't do ten hours in a stretch. I do about five during the day (with occasional breaks for cups of tea) then stop for the evening, do dinner, shower, chores, that sort of thing. Then pick it up again for another four or five hours before bed.

I think two hours on then twenty minutes off is a good idea. I'll try that.

Thanks again.

I'm an eye doctor. I can tell you that people's eyes don't get damaged from playing computer games in a very dimly lit room. The idea that direct light from a computer is damaging to eyes is incorrect. Some people do experience eyestrain from doing extended near or mid-range tasks (including PC work or PC gaming)  because of how the focusing system works, or because they have uncorrected vision problems. If you are experiencing eye problems, I would recommend that you visit an optometrist or ophthalmologist to have your eyes checked.

If you continue to have stomach problems and a dizzy feeling, please see your primary care doctor or nurse practitioner to rule out other problems unrelated to gaming.

Thats reassuring. I'm worried because I got new glasses less than a year ago and already I'm squinting at the TV. That always seems to happen. I get new lenses and things are fine for a few months but they soon go right back to how they were before. I don't know why that happens.

I've developed an eye allergy problem since I started playing Dragon Age but I have been gaming for years now. So it can't be just gaming, but it would be so strange if DA:O was the cause.

I love CRTs too. I'd happily stick with it but it's not wide screen and I don't like playing games in letterboxes. A lot of games seem to have both ratios, 16:9 and 16:10. But ME 1 didn't and I'm assuming ME 2 won't either. And Dragon Age doesn't so I'm thinking of getting an LCD for them.

I've tried four LCDs, three monitors and one TV and didn't like any of them. I seem sensitive to the sort of silvery appearance on the screen that becomes apparent whenever the screen is dark, and around the edges of the screen. Plus despite the high response times I get very bad motion blur (playing on the 360 with either a VGA cable or a DVI to HDMI adapter).

It's time to join the 21st century and buy a flat panel. They're very affordable now.

Just a layman, so I'm in no position to give sound advice, but it does sound like a blood circulation issue to me. I get it too sometimes if I sit down for very long stretches, especially in very hot weather. It's usually just the feet though. The worst I ever had it was on a 14 hour hell-ride in an unairconditioned bus in the north of Thailand (38 degrees with 97% humidity). There were over 80 ppl on the bus, so no one could move an inch. Not being able to see the veins in your feet is a tell-tale sign.

The same issue occurs in aeroplanes and can lead to (or is already?) Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) in extreme cases. Airlines have finally owned up that they've known about it for years, and have been forced to change their seating arrangements in response. There's a lot more info on DVT nowadays, but beware the google search if you suffer from hyperchondria lol.

Again, I've found that exercise soon remedies the problem for me.

BTW, weight and fitness is not the only factor from what I've heard. In fact, our former cricket captain, Steve Waugh, got DVT on the plane from England to Australia. He had just had surgery on his leg (knee I think). DVT can lead to other complications too.

Not sure what it means that it's only happening in only one leg though. I think it would be a good idea to ask your GP about it in any case.

EDIT: btw your user name wins my vote as the cleverest

Threw up  while getting 'Server First Level 80 Death Knight!' on WoW (Name is rinascere on Bronzebeard if you wanna play sometime :P) and gave my eye a horrible twitch for atleast a month.

I was up for about 3 days straight with nothing to eat or drink but a combination of Strawberry Ensure, Monster, and Cherry Coke.

Was it stupid? Damn straight it was. Would I do it again? Hell no. But was it worth it?

...no....of course not. It was the most miserable 3 days of my gaming life.

But the 22 hours of sleep i got afterwards was magnificent -_-

I usually get a headache and on rare occasions feel a little sick, but that's because I tend to forget to eat or drink properly while playing for a long stretch of time. Sometimes I even forget to go to the bathroom :P

i don't get many comments on it .don't know if its because people don't get it or just don't comment on it .

edit  : the reason the left bothers me is because of the after affects of a stroke and the left side of the body

I'm female but as I said it's because I forget to eat/drink, not the gaming in itself.

Threw up once while playing Terminator: Future Shock. Those old low res games seem to exacerbate motion queeziness. I could feel myself getting queezy but I just couldn't stop playing. Then I chugged a glass of water and as soon as the cold liquid hit my stomach that was all she wrote.

What a great game that was.

Let's say that the loadscreen tip in Baldur's Gate II about "your characters don't have to eat, but YOU do" came in handy quite a few times...

I noticed that some games tend to make me feel nauseous after playing a while; Uncharted and Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines come to mind. In the case of the latter I suspect it was due to dark environments combined with choppy graphics. With Uncharted, I was probably mostly disgusted by the completely undeserved praise that game has received.

Yeah, it should have come in handy, but I was more like "Oh yeah, I should do that!"
And as soon as the loading was done, I'd forgotten.
