I'd say the best choice is an elven Circle Mage.
Human & Dwarven Nobles don't need anyone to show the world how awesome they are, they're alreeady at the top of thier own society, Casteless Dwarves have done great deeds and ben made paragons in the past, the Warden would just be the most recent example.
But the elves and mages are the most in need of a champion, someone to show the rest of the world that they can do great things.

This is, of course assuming your Warden is basically good, if you play more towards villainous then that REALLY won't help them.

Personally I say Human Noble. Not only does it make the narrative alot more interesting because it provides more antagonists in relation to your personal problems (Arl Howe) It just seems fitting. You are of noble birth, and tragedy strikes, you lose everything. You're family, you're home, your Teyrnir. You basically become nothing, and your name doesn't even carry much weight. Started with everything and end up with nothing. Then you become a Warden, avenge you're family's murder and have the chance to sit yourself as ruler of Fereldan. I think it's poetic justice do to the fact, you start off privileged and noble -> Then you lose everything and are nothing more than an orphan -> Then through all this tragedy you rise to greatness and nobility that supersedes what you once had (Becoming Queen / King) As if you needed to lose everything to become something greater. Second to Human Noble I'd say Dwarven Commoner, based on the fact Orzammar's Caste system sucks and Casteless shouldn't have to put up with that mess.

@ TruffleMeister.

That isn't that different at all from the dwarven Noble story.

I've already have a male Amell Warden and Mage Male Hawke for my human mage Inquisitor and I think I'll accept this as my canon. Magic is just too cool to pass up.

For my second walkthrough as a female Qunari warrior I'll be a male dwarf noble and male mage hawke. Playing as a mere human being just seems mundane compared to dwarves, mages and giant horn headed people.

Have always favoured the human noble. Magnus Cousland had a backstory that I felt fit into the main campaign nicely. He always made the choices which while tough were for the greater good.

Look like to recreating his adventures in the keep while playing them on the 360!
