So did DA:I do away with the junk items that was present in DA2?

Ah, yes, Hawke, Kirkwall's richest citizen, stopping in the middle of the Qunari uprising to retrieve the priceless moth-eaten scarf and rusty spoon.  I've found books of suggestive caricature for Varric to caption and a couple stuffed parrots for Isabela, though.

I like the junk; it makes the world seem bigger and the foes seem human.  What were they carrying?  What is important to them?  It shows that more things exist in the world than killing devices and killers. It was also really easy to sell- hit triangle and gone.

I liked the junk too. Honestly, most of the stuff I picked up in DA:O was junk anyway. Like sure, I could use it...but I rarely did, and instead I had to spent a ton of time managing the inventory to figure out what was useful and what wasn't. I actually like inventory management to a certain degree too, but in DA:O it was not fun.  At least in DA2 it made me laugh sometimes and also I could get rid of it easily. I don't like the inventory/loot system for either game, I guess, but DA2's was easier and felt more honest, haha. I hope DA:I does something different but. I will stand for junk. :P

I hope so!

I got so sick of having to sift through the dead person just to loot specific things!!

Well Origins had junk too, they just didn't call it that.
And it wasn't quite so... crappy.
Rolls of parchment are rather different from moth eaten scarves and a broken sword.
So let's hope we're leaning more towards origins junk than DA2.

I actually liked the junk section because I always worry that anything I sell may have some use in a quest so I obsessively hold onto things.

So if there's no junk section I hope we get some chests to store stuff when we're out. I can't throw anything away without knowing there's no repercussions to it.

I love the idea of having a  section of my character's inventory, into which * I * can send items for quick sale later at a merchant (a 'junk' section if you will, and while I am not fond of that term, I suppose it is marginally better than 'trash'). However, I should never be looting or given as a quest reward  (which still infuriates me!) an item specifically labeled 'Junk'. Moth-eaten scarves? Rusty spoons? Broken swords? Am I truly so destitute and/or desperate as to be collecting those? And how long have I been so destitute that I actually know which merchants would actually purchase such trash?

If we must be looting items that have little and/or no purpose for our characters, at least have us be looting items that have some intrinsic value, no matter how small, or give us some reason why we're looting trashy items.

Was there ever a purpose for the fancy vase in DA:O? That seemed like junk to me. Junk has its purposes. They fill up space and you can sell it later.

I would prefer that any junk items could be utilized somehow in a rich Crafting design; make use of those quartz crystals in grenades, and ripped trousers for fuses. MacGyver FTW!

I think the DAO limit was way roo high. I could literally take everything from everywhere without running out of space between merchants (except in the Circle Tower). As long as you bought all the backpack upgrades, you had plenty of space.

I was always running out of space until I got the camp chest mod

I loved the "junk" but what would be nice is finding things in an appropriate setting.

"Yay. I killed the Monstrous Spider, now I'll loot its corpse and ..... wait, wut? A moth-eaten scarf, and a broken bottle?"

Put that in a Broken Crate, lol.

I will admit I went back to the camp every night, because it seemed like the right thing to do.  The Warden needs sleep.

So every time I travelled anywhere, I hit the camp in between.

I think something could be done similar to Assassin's Creed IV, perhaps. Instead of actually picking up the junk items, you basically get told what they are (so that way we get a bit of flavour text, hopefully put to good use; if we're in a particular area of Orlais we'll find items that are related to the culture there instead of just moth-eaten scarves and whatnot) and then its automatically converted to gold. That way we needn't bother selling it, but we get the tasty lore bits from it. Its more like a gold reward that also comes with flavour.

Forget the grenades all you need a paperclip and chewing gum, combine them with what you already have and it's game over man, the inqusitor is elected ruler of the universe, and Thedas becomes a bastion of peace and justice for all time, with more excellent water slides than any other planet they have contact with.

Just just don't touch Oghren's junk, because no one touches Oghren's junk and lives.

I felt like DA 2 took away all independent thought where inventory was concerned. I like going through my inventory and sorting, but when it all gets dumped into the trash area or immediately passed along to your companion (the ship for izzy for example) I felt like I didn't get any control over my items.

Given the existence of Ruck, that seems odd.

It's really easy to get Ruck to attack you if you don't have enough charm or say the wrong things.

No ruck = no shop.

'junk' items could exist in the game but only in the fact they dont have a direct benefit to the player, much like in origins, junk items could be used to enhance your inquisition in some very minor way which would make you want to collect the items, or if they are associated with a quest, like for example, wolf skins, in origins they were junk items, but there was one quest in the dales that you could use them to progress that mini story further and then decide on what to do with it
