I spend money on all kinds of things that only make me happy. Four versions of the same game might seem crazy, or it might just reflect "dedication" to an extreme level?

I'm sure Bioware thinks you're perfectly sane.

If the 8 slot limit is any indication, disappointment may drive you insane if you aren't already.

basically, the title says it all.

I'm going to buy DAI when it comes out.

PS3 version
PS4 version
X360 version
X1 version

I'm crazy, probably.. but it's for love of my friends on all platforms and for DAI :P

Well your love for all platforms missed out the PC version :P. But for you to buy that many, you are probably a very rich person.

I echo the others who have said to do what makes you happy. :)

Personally, I have pre-ordered the Inquisitor's Edition for PS4 (which is coming in the mail and may potentially be delayed), and the Deluxe Edition for my XB1 which I plan to pick up at midnight release and play immediately. My son has ordered himself a 360 Inquisitor's Edition, and I'm sure we will also eventually get the Deluxe version on Origin for the PC players in our house.

We have a house full of gamers though, so everything we buy gets played. I also feel pretty good about buying a couple of copies at release to show my support and appreciation for all the blood, sweat and tears the devs are putting into DAI. I seriously think this is going to be the game of my dreams. ^_^

I have a preorder for 360, but I may cancel it for a PS4 preorder. I guess I don't really care about multiplayer - it looks kinda boring to me, so I wouldn't put out that much money to be able to play it across platforms. But now I'm seeing the money-making aspect of releasing a game with multiplayer: people will buy your game, at the very least, twice.

If you can personally justify it and do so without detriment, then why not? I have a hard time justifying buying the same game over again; even in the case of remastered versions of games like TLOU, which I loved, I don't personally see the value in it, but mileage varies, and that's really what it comes down to. Having said that the only time I DID rebuy a game was Dragon Age Origins and the Ultimate Edition, just for the sake of ease with DLC and whatnot. So... um... I guess what I'm saying is...no? Yes? Maybe? My iPod is chocolate?

You're entitled to buy whatever you want with your own money.

However I do not see the point of buying one for each platform? I mean why do you want to? I could understand buying one for last gen if it's the only current system you own and you plan to get a next gen system down the line or want to play with a specific friend online, but all four? seems a bit overkill to me.

Maybe a little ;) But there's a chance that I can't go to midnight launch and if that happens I'm going to buy digital deluxe edition too, so who am I to judge :D

Why?

Buy one copy on your favorite platform and donate the rest of that clearly disposable cash to a nice charity.

I think it's wonderful that you are willing to share your happiness with your friends.  That's not crazy.

For balance I will not be buying the game any time soon. Maybe when it is cheaper. Bio has already revealed too many Awesome ™ features for my taste.
- too many restrictions: weapons, discussion, magic/spells
- too fast and exaggerated combat/abilities
- the origin sells this game to me with "play with your friends" marketing. RPG's I play on single game. Concentrating on mp in sales tells something about the game.

The game is tilted heavily towards hack'n slash button mashing, Even Bio doesn't call it a rpg but action-rpg, that is revealing.

Speaking as someone who ended up buying 4 copies of Dragon Age Origins, yes you are. If you buy it for one platform and then that console breaks down or you switch to using another and you prefer it, I can understand buying a new copy, or buying one at a later point when its much cheaper on PC to see the differences, or waiting until all the DLC is out and then buying an ultimate edition. But 4 copies simultaneously on 4 different consoles? For no reason other than you can? KInda weird. Then again people with enough disposable income to do that sort of thing tend to be weird anyway so no worries. (No offence to any very rich people but you guys do tend to spend outrageous amounts on the most ridiculous things)
