Hello everyone.

Now that we know the background story of the dwarf, I'm having a little trouble deciding on what my dwarf will be both class and spec wise.

I like to play within the bounds of lore to an extent for eg, my human Mage being a circle Mage, will be knight enchanter.

So with the dwarf, being from a lyrium smuggling crime family, it'd make sense that my dwarf could be an assassin or perhaps an artificer.
The artificer spec sounds interesting, (I'm not really into playing an assassin) but as I'm planning to run around with Varric, I'd rather not make a clone of him.

So that would leave warrior options. Would it make sense for my dwarf to seek the power of a Reaver or perhaps use the abilities of a Templar ?

I'm interested to see what other dwarven players are planning to roll with their inquisitors and why.

I cannot wait until spec info is released. Helps to prepare my builds/ play style.

Since they're part of the Carta, and were also sent as a spy,I'd suggest you play as a rogue.

Still too little known for me, though I did alter my idea of being a more moral character than the background suggested. Generally, my Warrior will be 2H, and my Rogue will aim for Archer/ DW hybrid again; my fave designs from the prior games.

Rogue makes more sense, backround wise since rogues are supposed to be all sneaky etc.

Yeah true. Rogue does seem to be more appropriate, especially assassin....

I think either Assassin or Artificer would be fine... if you're worried about being a clone of Varric, you should have him specialize in Bianca while your Inquisitor specializes in daggers.  If you don't share the same weapon style, then you can probably figure out two unique builds that share a spec.  After all, the spec is just one out of... what, 5 trees?  Once we have the full skill list to work with, I'm sure this will be an easier decision to make.

rogue makes sense, as for the specilization, i don't know, but you technically don't have to pick one, the devs said you don't to pick one. i'm not sure what i'm gonna pick for my playthrough, i gotta see all the combat tech trees first.

Very true. I cannot wait til the skills are released. Impatient of me I know, but I'm a bad sufferer of MCCS - multiple character creation syndrome. :D

From what you've told us OP, here's what I think the perfect dwarf Inquistor would be:

Race: Dwarf, obviously.
Gender: Male or Female, doesn't matter
Class: Rogue. As a spy and a smuggler, stealth is your ally.
Weapon: Daggers seems more common with dwarves then bows though it doesn't make that big of a difference.
Specialization: I'd say Artificer. Dwarves are known for their affinity with technology. An Artificer is a likely choice.
Voice: American accent. I don't remember a Carta with a British accent.

Dwarf Female Rogue Artificer/Tempest (American voice)

Dwarf Male Warrior Reaver. (British Voice)

I suffer this as well, the closer to launch it gets, my pile of Inquisitors grows even larger, it may topple any day now.

Looks like I'm going to be stuck playing DAI  for a long while after it is released.

Cookies for all my fellow MCCS sufferers :D

Seems so far my best options are

Rogue - assassin and artificer

Warrior - Reaver. Considered Templar due to the lyrium smuggling....and the ability to laugh off attacks from venatori and demons alike.
