I don't think online dating websites are the best places to go searching for someone. Even though I know many relationships start that way. But it just reeks of desperation to me.  

 

Online dating sites are male brothels for female users due to lopsided gender ratios. If a guy has average looks (or below) and can't write worth a damn, then they're wasting their time there.

Me personally I think it makes more sense. Note: not online relationships which you see on MMO's like WoW, but rather using a dating website to identify more clearly what you're looking for in a partner. 

 

Want to date a single nerd chick? Much more easy to identify via online dating. Want to date a Chemist? Someone who loves soccer? So on and so forth.  

 

 To be honest, I think of it in the same way as how much more efficient things like Netflix/Aamazon make our daily lives. 

 

Obviously, an online profile/messaging never compares to actual physical interaction, but if you definitely know that there's something you definitely want/don't want your partner to do, these kinds of things make much easier to get that out in the open.

but here is the REAL problem, no one wants a relationship, all the guys i find online are just looking for fun which is not bad but ... online is all i have for now.....

 

Please don't tell me you have a profile in those gay hookup apps. I'm not sure how I feel about them. My friends tell me not to get them. I mean they seem distasteful because of shallow, racist remarks that I read from a bunch of douchey profiles. Of course, that attitude's not going to help me with my current dry spell, but I don't think it's going to give me a relationship I desire. Maybe I'll do what my cousin did: Find a friend of a friend, hoping he's a nerd too.

I can see the upsides to it, but I guess it's just not for everyone. I prefer the element of surprise and getting to know someone naturally and gradually without having a written out list of things they like or want right from the start. 

 

No arguments there. Didn't mean to imply that it's the "correct" solution, but it does have some perks attached (along with a few unfortunate down sides).

 

And granted, telling people you met your wife/girlfriend/whatever on site X, Y, or Z isn't quite as thrilling as real life stories/anecdotes.
